This is quite normal.

I presume as a security thing.

Its all in your owners handbook.

(Having said that...if it is just a few hours then...you might indeed have a problem)

I assume we are talking keyless locking and unlocking. After a while (a few days rather than hours) the touch sensors in the door handles are switched off to save the battery, in case you have parked and gone away on holiday (for example). If you pull the handle, it should wake the system up and unlock the door, but you will then have to pull it again to open the door. If it's really only a few hours, or pulling the handle twice doesn't work, then maybe you have a fault.

Read the manual ! Thanks

In case someone stumbles upon this by searching,

For KESSY:

After 60 hours, the passenger side sensor is disabled but the drivers side and boot are still enabled. After an additional 30 hours (90 total), the drivers side and boot are disabled. After that you need to use the remote button to unlock.

Disabling may happen faster if the car detects that the battery is low.

Follow up: It seems the KeyFob battery voltages are fairly critical. Removing the existing CR2032 (3.0V) and replacing it with a new one (3.3V) solves the problem.

I have had the same problem for some time on my 1.8 TSI. Several times during the day KESSY will not unlock the car never the less that I can see on the remote, that the key is sending a signal.

If I lock the car using the remote KESSY is activated again and works.

And same problem using both remotes.

I have even unlock the boot using KESSY, closed the lid again, walked to the frontdoor just to discover, that KESSY didn't work.

But never had problems starting the car or closing the car using KESSY.

And when the dealer gets the car KESSY works all the time........

OK I will take a look at the batteries and hope that will solve my problem also

BTW in the danish manual is mentioned 60 and 90 seconds before KESSY is deactived - I assume that is translation errors :giggle:

I think that should read `HOURS`.
