Stiff gearchange when cold

Featured Replies

Hi all

I may be imagining this as I don't drive the Octy (2012 2.0TDi Est) very often but this last week when the temperatures have dropped I've noticed that the gearchange is stiff for the first 3-4 miles, don't seem to remember this in my previous Octy (2009 1.9TDi Hatch). After the first few miles everything is smooth and feels lovely. Any body else noticed this with theirs?

Yep mines does it 58 plate Octavia.

No experience of an Octy yet, but happened with my Golf and Astra

It also happened to me in 2011 diesel scout, the local dealership adjusted the gear linkage and no issues after that

Mine does it when its extremely cold.Geabox oil still very thick from start.

My 2012 CR estate does this also but gets better as it warms up. I've taken to double clutching and not rushing the changes and that's seems to make it feel much easier. I was hoping that as I'd only had it a month it would bed in and get smoother with a few more miles on it.

Had this with my old Astra. Particularly noticeable in 1st. Drained and changed the gearbox oil to a fully synthethic with a good wide viscosity range, and problem solved.

Mine is lovely and smooth..............DSG gotta love it!
