Following on from pbirkett's thread, I've been thinking about getting this car to replace the Fabia, purely so I can do like him and move out in the near future. Golf's seem reliable and this GTD has come up, he wants

Thats what I'm thinking, BBS 14" wheels and maybe a slight lowering. Oh and remove the rear badge like you said.

Can you retro-fit power-steering? Didn't know that was possible.

Oh and pics haven't worked for some reason.

yeah you can retro fit powersteering. if help is required give TSR a call

Any idea on rough cost? Looks like I've on a few people speciality

Fitting power steering is fairly simple, easier with the motor out but basically:

Drop the bed and remove manual rack, replace with power rack

Fit bracketery to front of block, fit pump, connect hydraulic lines

Bobs your uncle :)

Bit more to it but thats basically it!

Dunno why the pics wont work!!

here is the TSR Website cheaper doing it yourself mind you.

but they made a kit for the mk1, should be able to give you an idea on what bits you need, then source them elsewhere

i had my golf for about 4-5 years. loved it :)

Hmm, could be worth a thought.

I've seen yours Kenny in your gallery, thats what I mean by smart but not over the top. Looks good

cheers mate, spent thousands on it, but i like the classic look. BBS splits etc, combination of standard parts of newer and more exclusive models.

was in the club gti mag too

Looks like everyone is getting mk2's. Cannot wait to get mine insured and taxed next week.

I have a power steering kit apart from the pump in my garage. Was going to put it on mine but seams ok on the 16" rims

Beeftech what year is yours?

I've had 3 Mk2's:

1st one: '84 8V GTI converted to 16V

2nd one: '90 16V converted to 2L 16V

3rd one: '91 GTD boggo std.......at the mo :)

You can get a P/Steering parts kit for about

That's what I'm thinking, we have a huge scrapyard very very close, I'l just rob the bits off a Golf/Jetta/Passat.

yip best way to go, keeps everything looking standard!

The interior is meant to be in mint condition too, but paint is flat where it's not been looked after. I'm sure I can brighten it up with some TLC.

Anything to look out for? Any bugs with them?

on a tenners worth of diesel I get about 150 miles, just depends really, 'spose it avergages about 50mpg!

Can't get the damn pics to work so here is a thread with pics of my Golf from the corrado forum: http://the-corrado.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22189

Things to look out for is just the normal, have to remember it's a 14 year old car! So long as it's been generally well cared for, mine has wads of receipts for varoius parts including a new 'box and recent cambelt change!

If this ain't been done within the last 60K or you can't find any record of it get it done ASAP!!!

Will do on the cambelt. Still can't see pics, if they are in your personal gallery, I need to sign up, which I'll do tomorrow.

Just click the link in my post......

This was my gti 8v i got for

Nice Porka Wheels...They proper ones???

Think the old skool retro look is growing on me :)

They are the real deal.

Picked them up for

Richard,
