200bhp

Featured Replies

on searching for something completely unrelated I just found another thread answering my below questions - i don't know how to delete this topic.

did a search and couldn't find any definitive threads. What's needed for a reliable and useable 200bhp from the 130bhp BLT engine? The car has a Shark remap already and i'm getting used to it too quickly, i should have bought a standard one and then got the map

I reckoned 200bhp would only require a FMIC, a better turbo (PD150 or hybrid, or something else?) EGR delete to keep it running properly, panel filter, cat back, another remap and probably an uprated clutch. Have i missed anything out or is there anything i've not thought of?

I'd imgine the standard injectors would cope at this level but what about the 6-speed gearbox, would it survive the power and torque?

200bhp would be a nice figure and i wouldn't look to take it further, i have another FWD car for that, so I would be happy at that. I'd really like to keep the car useable so i wouldn't mind doing bits at a time too.

I know there are a few on here with 200bhp+ so this is the place to ask.

For a reliable 200 bhp, you'll need at least a hybrid turbo and a front mount intercooler.

The gearbox will take the power no problem.

This is where the standard clutch is very borderline though.

Keep the torque low, and it may be fine, however expect it to wear far faster than stock. DMF is also nearing its limit too.

Hybrid turbo, FMIC and a decent map. Sorted.

Get a clutch if you wanna launch it tho, but for normal driving a stock one will be ok

excellent, fairly do-able then. i never thought of the DMF actually, i wouldn't want to change that (or the gearbox)but it wouldn't be getting launched hard

Just keep the torque low and you'll be fine.

Great to hear you can use a standard clutch for the time being. I'm going to make some enquiries soon :)

i'll look at keeping the torque lower than its full potential for the time being. Can this be done by mapping alone?
