Exhaust manifold

Again..... ;) Any differences across the 1.9 TDI PD range? :D

One for the experts again. I thought the turbo/manifold for the PD130/150 (turbo/manifold all in one) are different than the lower PD's.

Jas I think the PD100 ones are made of paper ;)

They better not be

I must have got one of the early prototype's then as mine is made out of drinking straws. Very pretty colours :D

PD 130's are made of double sided sticky tape and old bog rolls ala Bluepeter Style

There is a pretty carbon effect on the flexible bit. I just need to know my exhaust will bolt on to the PD130 manifold, nothing more. :)

 - You guys made me crack a smile at work, everyone looking suspicious

We are deadly serious Paper is the new Metal :D

Paper chavving next

I thought cotton was the new paper though (just replaced the standard one for a Green filter today ;))

Fitted to which models/makes? The 3 Fabia 1.9 TDIs share the same manifold. The Octavia 1.9 TDIs each have different manifolds

SPOT ON DENIS!

music to my ears, oh dynamic blue one. :)

To futher what Denis said the exhaust manifold is part of the turbo and not seperate.

To futher what Denis said the exhaust manifold is part of the turbo and not seperate.

I was just thinking that.......

To illustrate..

Sorry, Jason. :o I have just noticed that the page I was looking at cross-refers to an earlier page in the engine section listing manifolds with turbocharger for the ATD and ASZ engines, ie it seems that the manifold I was looking at is only for the ASY engine. Unfortunately there are 4 (with turbo) listed for the ATD and 2 for the ASZ.

To futher what Denis said the exhaust manifold is part of the turbo and not seperate.
Although the parts list illustration (145-35) shows an exhaust manifold as separate to the turbo for the ATD and ASZ, it only lists a part number for them combined. I stand corrected again. :(

Soooo, if I asked for everything off the vRS engine, INCLUDING the flexible little bit of carbon effect exhaust, I'd be OK? ;)

Jason are you refering to the downpipe?

Jason are you refering to the downpipe?

I think so... :D On my wreck its the bit left over when the engine was removed, complete with manifold attached. Its just a bit of pipe that has a fair bit of flexible movement in it, and goes down slightly, (DOWNpipe ;)) to the cat (if I had one ;)) and the backbox.

The downpipe and cat (one bit) bolts directly to the turbo.

So, to summarise for my pathetic inabaility to understand, my current downpipe will bolt OK to the new turbo? Or shall I ask for the downpipe and do a cut & shut? (which I should say will not be a botch it job - but done using proper welding gear)

Your downpipe will bolt just fine to the new turbo.

No get a larger bore downpipe form miltek or blue flame. :P

 In all the confuison of this engine works, Lummox, you've been the shining light of sensibility and good advice. Many thanks.

And Matt.... NO! :D I think existing decat and powerflow backbox will like the new engine. ;)
