New Stereo/Phone thingy

Featured Replies

hey guys.

I have a Superb Mk1 (02 plate) 1.9 TDi.

It has the OEM Stereo with the push open tray underneath it. I also have a standard nokia cradle, so the phone wiring isn't too far away from the stereo wiring. Also have a 6 CD changer in the boot.

I was thinking of putting in a new thing to cover the whole area, ie the old stereo and tray.

The thing is, I would like 2 things from you lovely people;

1. What is the actual product that I'm looking for? I'm assuming it will have a Stereo, Bluetooth phone. not bothered about DVD. But what is the product I'm looking for?

2. Subject to the above - any suggestions. Only looking for a good user friendly interface. Looking to spend about £200-£300. Is that a bit tight?

Thanks guys

Kam

Double Din stereo is what your looking for. you will also need a surround for it.

Pop down to your local Halfrauds for ideas but dont buy from them until homework is down

I've just done the same with my 54 Superb Comfort. I bought the Pioneer AVH-4400BT at just over £300 - not bothered about the Multimedia capability but wanted something with the Bolero/Columbus feel. Very impressed, you don't need any facias or cable adapters, etc. as it's a direct fit once the push tray is removed - only thing is you lose use of your steering wheel controls as there doesn't appear to be an adapter available for our cars - i've asked on this forum without sucess for a solution.

I'll post some pictures if you like?

yes please. saw a pioneer touchscreen one halfords which works With Android. Steering controls would be good though.

Popped in to Halfords. Apparently i need a facia, cable adapter and a steering wheel control adapter. All in all another £150 on top.

Is that always going to be the case, orisit just the case with this particular model?

It all depends on model.

You need to buy double din stereo. I'll suggest you to look after Kenwood or Pioneer.

I will try to find site where I saw good dd stereos, and post it here, in order to help you. :hi:

Thank you. I like the pioneer one because it supports Android.

I'll look at the links. Thanks

Forgot to say, need/want phone function too! Thanks so far. Will try and look for a specific kit for the superb.

Ignore halfords. All you need is a double din headunit. Everything you need is in the box. There is no adaptor for the steering wheel controls and also you will loose the radio station display in the maxidot (between speedo and rev counter) also the CD changer will not work.

Thanks. Just clarify, is that the case for all head units or just the one in interested in? Are you saying that the cables plugged in to the back of my current unit will work?

You will get a new loom in the box to connect to your car wiring. Any stereo you buy should be the same. I had a couple of different ones in my old superb.

The loss of maxidot, cd changer and steering controls is the same for any replacement too.

So no point worrying about 'adapters' that they try to sell me. ******s!

How come the HU's mention 'Steering wheel compatible'? Is it just a skoda issue?

Really appreciate your help so far guys.

Kam

On some models, you can have steering wheel controls, and on some not.

However you will lose display on maxidot.(That is 100%.)

I sad earlier, and I will say again, it all depends on model.

Expensive models have adapters inselfs, and cheaper, well you alredy know answer---no.

I had this dillema what to do, which to buy,atc...and then I decide, that for me best option, is to buy OEM Skoda Superb dx navigation system, and Im very pleased with him.

For me there is no such simply, clever, and fast system like OEM dx navi. And it fit 100%.

If you have another q, shoot it, we are all here to help each other.

Cheers

Sorry for not getting my pictures up earlier, as i said earlier, and the others have confirmed, no facias or adapters are required - was a direct fit - only issue was that i believed what i was told over the phone (and from their website) where i bought my stereo from, that the steering wheel remote adapter was an option - only to find that there isn't a compatible one. See my thread: http://www.briskoda....p/#entry2960923 Basically if your plugs in the car are as the ISO layout picture then the adapter does fit, if it's like my plugs from my car, then i'm afraid it doesn't.

I finally took the plunge and went for the pioneer sdh-da110. Want it to work with my android, so hoping that the Slim port adapter works!

Anyway, steering controls.....the only 'blocks' that I have unused at the moment are green and blue and thus seem too small to fit into the harness. One of the pictures from the links above show the same block as mine, but with a yellow block joined on which would look to be the right size....

Can any one shed some light please?

Thanks

Kam
