Double the amount of fuel, seriously?

I just chose a 1.4 TSI over the 1.8 because the 1.4 was an estate model with more options, so I didn't really want to read about how fast the 1.8 is right now. I haven't even given my 1.4 the beans yet because I'm breaking in both the engine and the studded tyres. The dealer demonstrator was an 1.2 which I did give the beans so I expect my car to be a bit quicker.

Still, I'll probably miss the 210 horses my V70 2.5T had.

I think if your giving the 1.8T the beans then the mpg would certainly half compared to a 1.9 tdi.

It is a good engine or more like was and will be sadly missed by many :(

My first Octavia was a 1.9 TDi - average fuel over 37k miles - 51mpg

My current 1.8TSi fuel over 23k miles - 36.5mpg

The 1.9TDi brought a big smile to my face every time I filled it up. The 1.8TSi brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. I know which I prefer.

Pros for the 1.9TDi - decent performance, excellent fuel consumption, no DPF

Cons for the 1.9TDi - gruff and growly under load, got rid of mine when the turbo started to show signs of failure (several limp home moments, distant siren sounds).
