Cracked number plate light / lock housing on tailgate :(

Featured Replies

My wife has handily reversed the car in to the window cill of my house and cracked the housing that holds the rear number plate light and the boot lock (see pic). :(

Does anyone know if this is easy to repair or get a replacement? Or is is a bodyshop job (probably not worth it). A quick google didn't turn up much.

Cheers :-/

Hi mate. as far as i'm aware they are just bolt on & off. Open boot and take cover off underside of boot lid and it should tell you. There is a silver Octavia being broken for spares in the parts for sale section, Rick should be able to sort you out with what you need. Hope this helps.

Yeah bolt off and replace the handle. Looks like there is a dent in the boot lid too though

You're probably right. My missus just sent me the picture this morning with a grovelling apology. The dent might have to stop in, but sounds like the cracked handle thing is a bit easier to sort.

Thanks guys - will investigate Rick's breaking silver Octavia.

You might be able to pop the dent out when you replace the handle if your lucky mate.

Mate I'm only York got a whole bootlid, or the handle in silver

Will have a look when I get home, see how bad it is and let you know.

tbh, I think car could do with a bit of TLC on the tailgate as rear wiper motor has been burnt out for over a year... oops

That's the only thing that's been sold already on it the wiper motor, still got the lock on it, it's still on the car at the min, my breaking threads in the car parts for sale section
