How to quickly take apart a PD130 bottom end!

Featured Replies

Its real speed I promise. ;) Split apart a bottom end today to retrieve the pistons and rods. Wasn't easy with my relatively limited tool collection, as shown in the video as I often rummaging more / nipping off to the shed, than actually fighting with the block.

I was using my car's xenons to light up the way, which was useful. I did however forget my blackvue would be recording so thought I'd review the footage after once I realised what it would have recorded!

Then rain annoyed me as it started whilst I was having some dinner! :( I'll need to dry off all my tools in the morning!

Enjoy! :D

bloody hell you move quick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

hang on, waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit a minute, I smell a rat here :D

Good to see no builders bum in that ! Interesting video btw!

What is the purpose of the engine strip?

What is the purpose of the engine strip?

Someone in the USA wanted the pistons as they don't get them over there in any kind of stock vehicle.

Now have the rods available too.

I am potentially turning the bottom end into a 2.1 litre but that isn't on the cards just yet. Now its just the block and crank left in there. Not sure how the crank drops out. Think its the big end bolts that gets it out.

Will selling your pistons not reduce your compression ratio and lower Bhp?

I believe they buy kidneys and other organs in the USA too lol!
