Scraped My Gigaro Alloy...

Featured Replies

Anyone know of a good refurbisher that can repair a rim scrape on my Gigaro chrome and black alloy wheel...I live in leeds, so somebody in the West Yorkshire area would be good...cheers

Tbh mate, it may be worth buying a new one. With the gigaro wheels, I was told by a refurbishing company that they can do it, but it wouldn't look the same as before after. And it's not cheap either. Maybe wait until after winter?

I hate kerbing or scratching wheels, the noise makes me angry! Especially when you get out and see your lovely wheels have been scratched.

The Gigaro wheels are £136 inc. VAT from the accessories catalogue brand new from the dealer. AMSParts run by Allams Skoda has them listed on their website.

No silver ones

I think buying a new wheel may be overkill, depends how bad the damage is to be honest.

We had four new dark chromes put on ours under warranty and within days one got a mild but barely detectable kerbing. Then months later another got kerbed slighly worse (by a car valeter parking it back up the works car park after making it look like new again - somewhat of a contridiction!).

Think you have to be realistic in that no matter how well you look after the car this is bound to happen now and again. If I absolutely trashed a wheel through neglect, pothole or blowout then I'd probably replace it, if its just minor localised damage then get it smart repaired.

I'm having both mine done next week hopefully and can live with a very minor difference in finish and it will be minor.

Just find yourself a reputable repairer; a lot of smart repairers will advise against a repair as they don't have the ability to get a near to factory finish or just don't want to take the risk.

This sort of thing has however made me question signifi cantly having diamond cut wheels on a car in future.

Thanks for all the replies guy's. I will probably just live with it, as it's not too bad, just annoying.

I will just keep an eye on Ebay, as I was watching a new one, a month or so back, and it went for £78 posted...
