Bump in road and Check Tyre warning

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Just driving on a 60mph road tonight travelling at the speed limit and there was quite a big dip in the road which made the car bang quite loud as it hit the dip.

About 20 minutes later the dash gave me a Check Tyres warning (uses ABS sensors to check rolling radius, not pressure sensors).

Checked them with no obvious damage or sounds of leaking, and topped them up with air and reset the monitor.

Is there something maybe wrong here or something I should keep an eye on?

Cheers,

Stuart.

Happens to me now and then, long as it dosnt come back on after resseting it should be fine

Not long after I got my car I hit a bump or hole on a NSL road. It took a week, but the result was a lump the size of a plum on the sidewall.

We're any tyres low?

We're any tyres low?

They all were but pretty evenly low.

I will keep an eye out for any sidewall bulges.

The tyre pressures need checked regularly anyway for your own safety

& it is just as well you got something that made you check them.

TPMS is only there as a warning not monitoring pressures being too low all around

& it need re-set once you have your chosen pressure set.

Running them at too pressures will have your tyres overheating.

Winter/Cold weather time

& the tyre pressures may well need adjusted anyway & the TPMS button pressed/Reset.

*Knowing about pressures in cold weather is rather important IMO*

So is knowing them all the time and adjusting them if you need to when you are carriyng heavier loads/passangers etc.
