Air filter options

Featured Replies

Only had the car 10 days but I'm going to be fitting some lowering springs just to improve the looks.

But I'm also after a bit more induction noise , I'm not looking for performance increase purely a bit more growl ?

Have seen the itg kit , but didn't really want to be spending loads been down the tuning slope many times lol

Kate

You definitely want the ITG kit, not that im biased ;)

Realistically you will need a closed induction kit as anything open is going to have heat soak issues.

Lowering and uprated induction after just 10 days? Sounds like you are slipping down that slope again!

Yeah I agree 100% but was wondering if the revo or k+n would increase the noise , while still being inside the factory casing?

Nope minor mods only lol , last 2 cars have been mega modded but this a daily .

Revo makes very little to no noise difference

What about inside while driving?

If you want abit more growl might be worth considering a catback exhaust?

May have to look at that , just after a bit more sucking / whistling when putting foot down

Never got one driving but did reving inside :

To be honest the ITG will be about the same price and give you that with gains in bhp and torque

Yeah doesn't do much for the sound maybe the itg it is !

To be honest I'd love to play with the engine the supercharger turbo combo could be great to tune

I can vouch for the Milltek. Not loud or chavvy at all but gives a lovely subtle low burble and growl.... ;-)

My custom intake using oem box & pipercross panel filter does a great job providing air feed but won't give you a suction note that your after, What gains do you get on the standard engine from the itg intake then?

When you had the itg fitted did you have the fueling etc checked?

No i havent had this done yet

I use ram air and get a gd noise when not connected to cold air feed

The ECU has the ability to change the Air fuel ratio to optimise the performance, as you can imagine the amount of air ingested by the engine depends largely on altitude, air pressure, temperature etc, so its not a rixed setup.

Adding an intake doesn't require any ECU tweaks, the ECU might need a few miles to adapt fully but thats about it

Thanks for the info .

Is there the mapping software available for these ecu ? Eg to flash or pull maps off?

I've used open ecu on our prevous car?

It isnt possible to map the car without first removing the ECU and bypassing the VAG encryptions. But yep, there are plenty of maps available for this engine/ECU.

Shark performance

REVO

Jabbasport

AMD

P-Torque

APR Motorsport

to name a few of the options.

Figures to expect on a realistic dyno +/- maybe 5-8hp

Stage 1 with stock hardware 200hp/230lbft

stage 1 with intake 210hp /230lbft

Stage 2 with exhaust 215hp/250lbft

stage 2 with exhaust intake 220hp/250lbft

stage 2 with exhaust, intake, intercooler 225hp/260lbft

Stage 3 with exhaust, intake, intercooler, hybrid turbo 250-270hp/270lbft

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look at the above.

No worries, ive had three of the above maps on my car so any questions ask away. Where abouts are you located in the UK?

Thanks , we are in surrey just off the m25. Think I'm going to order the itg and springs this afternoon.

Should get the filter on this weekend but springs will have to wait .

I think a map is on the cards but don't want to go mad , traction seems to be a issue with the current weather ! Tyres may be the next upgrade as I'm sure 888 or something of that nature would be better.

R888s are extreme.

im using Federal 595RS-R semi slicks. maybe 90% the dry grip of the R888s, but MUCH more wet weather performance, and approx £50/corner cheaper. Great tyre. No traction issues with mine and im stage 3 now.

Theres a group buy on springs (25% off) and anti roll bars(15% off) on here which will save you a pretty penny. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/255056-hr-suspension-and-anti-roll-bar-group-buy/#entry3008801

your pretty close to Milton keynes I guess which means APR HQ is on your door step. they're IMO probably the best option. they currently the only UK company to have done any R&D past stage 2 so far and are fully switch able as well.
