Wish Me Luck

Featured Replies

The Octi went in yesterday to have my decat fitted to my stock exhaust. I used an exhaust firm just up the road from my work as I thought they would be more likely to complete the job well as they have experience with fitting exhausts etc on a daily basis. Well how wrong could I be. I was in a rush when I picked it up and the car was backed into a space all waiting for me, I paid my bill and started the car, first thing I noticed was a slight knock on start up but as said was in a rush so let it go. I pulled down the road and when the car got to 2k there was an allmighty vibration noise but it sounded more like a scraping really odd tbh. I limped the car home and and it was making some god awful noises. when I came out to work this morning it was even worst. The back box was right on the p**s and it was clonking if you lifted it up all in all a right bodge job. Needless to say I took it back this morning. I've just phoned them to see if its sorted and they said they are out test driving it - something they musn't have done yesterday! leaving work shortly to pick it up. I'll report my finding later on but wish me luck lol.

nothing worse when you put something in to get it done and it comes out worse

Well its not good news. Picked the car up and no different. Well I say that the back box is no longer loose lol. Basically they reckon the decat is about an inch too long, and where they've mated it up to the standard exhaust its making it sit incorrectly and its vibrating against the steering rack. I'll be honest they don't really seem like they want to do the work required to sort it out. So not sure really where to go from here. Basically the way I see it is they need to remove the decat reduce it in length so when mated up to the rest of the system it actually sits properly. I'll will go back again tomorrow and ask them out right if they think they can do the work which I see as pretty simple really and if not I want my money back and I'll take it somewhere else.

Got any photo's of it?

where is decat pipe from? does it have reducer on end of decat? when I fitted the new zorst, i did it at a mates garage and helped the little grunts fit it. my decat has reducer on it, which sat inside the expander of the zorst and clamped up...

It's 2.5" all the way along so they've made a reducer to fit to the standard exhaust system then its been welded. It's the toyosport one piece jobby. udazadus.jpg

So the reducer they made it too long then, not the decat. my decat is a two piece one, if you can get photo of underside that would be great. also check they put the zorst back in all the hangers correctly. there is a centre one that has a 8 bolt bracket on it which has two rubbers in that, well my estate does anyway. when replace my standard zorst for piper it wouldnt sit right so had to change all rubbers along it now sits fine.

I had trouble getting my decat fitted, i took mine to 3 different garages. They didnt understand that being able to fit my foot inbetween my exhaust and bumper is to much of a gap!!sorted now tho 3rd time lucky!

Tell me about it lol. Seriously if I'd have left someone's car in such a state I'd be embarrassed. As far as I'm concerned it needs cutting slightly to make it fit so that's what's gonna have to happen. With the reducer on its sitting at least an inch further back than it should do hence why its not sitting right and its sticking out further than it should.

Sorry to here your bad fitting experience. This seems to be the norm these days. I bit the bullet and fitted mine myself after first checking size and fit and worked out needed extending 6" so got it welded off car and fitted it in my own time. Only then you know the job is right unfortunately.

Been back to them today for the third day running. I spoke to the main man this morning and he said that its the part from the flexy that is too long and not the end past the decat which seems odd to me. They don't have time to sort it today but will take it back in on Friday so I've got to drive around with a car that looks and sounds crap for the next couple of days. And then I'm not even sure if they will be able to do anything anyway. Really pee'd off now. I'm not even sure I want them to touch it any more. Been trying to find someone else local to have a look but can't find anyone I think maybe able to sort it :wall::@
