All four windows dropped open

Featured Replies

After two and a half years of faultless motoring my vRS is playing silly games.

First two weeks ago the interior heater fan stopped working for 2 days, i booked it into the dealers and then it started working and has been fine since.

Today i went back to my car, whilst at work to find all four windows partly lowered. The front two by approximately 4 inches and the rear two by about 8 inches. The doors were still locked so they couldn't have been accidently lowered by the remote control blipper.

Any ideas??

The doors automatically re lock if one isn't opened so it could have been a long press of the button on the fob.

If it has only happened the once I would say you pressed the button in your pocket.

I forgot about the doors relocking. When i tried the fob to see if it opened all four windows, it did but all open by the same amount, when i came back to my car earlier the rears had opened twice as much as the fronts, strange!

I know my mate had something like this and as silly as it may sound what resolved it was;

Go to the car and unlock it with the key but keep it turned so all windows go down then lock the car and keep it turned so they all go back up.

Give that a go if find it happening again - Your lucky it wasn't raining!

Unless the car has auto wipers which most of the Octy vRS's do have..........

Most vRSes have auto wipers? Really? It only became a factory option when the FL appeared.

It's possible to have auto-close if you have a rain/light sensor fitted, but also depends on the revision of the CECM module.

My Elegance has auto wipers for example, but isn't capable of putting the windows up if it rains, unless I upgrade the CECM.

You could of course turn off this auto-open feature in VCDS. Most people probably never use it, but by the number of threads I've seen, they get caught out by instead?

By keeping you finger on the open button lowers all windows ?

Yes.

And keeping your finger on 'lock' puts them all up, if they're still open.

...and the sunroof if you have one.

When this happened on mine in the middle of the night while we were all alseep (Therefore no chance of operating the unlock button) the auto rain close did not happen so seats got wet. It did eventually set the alarm off waking the whole neighbourhood up however. Seems to have been a one off though.

Wow didn't know that

My 2007 pre-FL vRS has factory fitted auto wipers.

Agreed though, I'd guess at there been more vRS's without this feature than with as it is a cost option.

One of the reasons I upgraded my CECM

My 2007 pre-FL vRS has factory fitted auto wipers.

Impressive. Never spotted another one like that.

Please what is a CECM ?

Please Help..

I don't want to hijack this thread but i feel we may have a similar problem.

It all started a few weeks back when (whilst driving) the rear windows started to open and close on their own, usually stopping whilst open and then not responding to button to close. Then the drivers door stopped working off the fob (all others fine). Then when i parked, turned off ignition and opened drivers door all windows would open fully and again would not respond by any buttons, however, if i parked and locked drivers door manually whilst in the car and slid over and got out of passenger seat they would remain closed. Or so it seemed. one morning we came down to find all windows open and a very wet skoda :( .

Also there seemed to be a drain on the battery which would flatten overnight, the red alarm light by door lock stub remained on solid. (and probably the windows up and down all night)

Any help greatly appreciated

Regards
