Just wondering if anyone can give me a simple breakdown of how long the current skoda warranty lasts for engine parts / paintwork etc and any other areas that are covered

2 years unlimited mileage (Skoda UK) and a 3rd year (limited to 60,000 miles) supported by Skoda's dealer network.

Generally 2 weeks less than it needs to be as that always seems to be when bits fail!
