12v socket

Featured Replies

Well I have ordered a 1.6tdi (105) monte in red and now have a 12 week wait the only thing that is concerning me with the car is the location of the 12v socket which frankly is in a dreadful place for plugging in my sat nav. Has anyone else found it is not a good location or does it work ok there, just not keen on having cables trailing past gear stick and hand brake, are there any other solutions?

It's a shocking location... I personally found a 1 meter USB to apple cable which did the trick (phone on the drivers left), unfortunately the socket no longer charges my phone and no fix can be found...

Why not add another via a fuse tap then, you can then run the cable around the dash out of sight (this is my Superb, but the principle is the same)

Buy a map and chuck the Sat Nav, won't have wires going past the gear stick or handbrake any more

Not the best of locations but the cable on my Tom Tom still stretches to the right hand side of the screen where it needs to be; just wrap the cable around the steering column. Otherwise get an auto electrician to wire your sat nav in, straightforward enough for someone who knows what they are doing
