Strange issue after plug change

Featured Replies

I changed the plug in my car a week or so ago for NGK BKR7E and gapped them to .7 as the car is remmaped with a couple of other small mods done too. What I have noticed though is that although the pulls very well low down and mid range it feels like it is lacking top end. Before the car used to pull and pull but now when it gets up past the ton mark it feels a little flat compared to how it was before.

Has anyone come across this? I is worth maybe regapping them to .8 and seeing if there is any difference?

Any help would be appreciated guys.

Thanks

Dazz

Always used to gap my plugs to 28 thou when running stage 1 maps on my 1.8t's.

Yeh I decided to gap them to 28 thou after doin some reading on here and other forums that suggested it was best for a stage 1 car. The plugs I took out were NGK PFR6Q and after measuring the gap they are at .75mm. I decided to try the BKR7E plugs after seeing alot of peeps on here using them on remapped cars. Could it be that the .05mm is really making all that difference or could it just be that my car is being fusy about plugs?

yes point 7 is about right, check the gaps again, and make sure the coilpacks are in properly.

have you had the car scanned for any pack issues?

btw, bkr7e are a great plug, what i use on all my moded vrs cars.

I have them and they perform as any other plug.

Checked gaps again and 1 was a little off so regapped. coilpacks are all seated correctly and have scanned for any errors and no faults found. Will see how she performs shortly as im gonna give her a trip out.

Cheers guys
