Can someone please help me with a part number.?

I need a OS inner CV boot for my 51 plate Octavia 2.0 8v auto.

I purchased FCB 2699 which looks like the correct part, but the big end of the boot as much too big.

The shaft has the following VW Audi sticker on it. 1J0 407 272 CQ. It is dated 2001 so I think it is original.

Your boot should have a part number on too if its a genuine one.

I had searched, and the one i got from the factors was for my model so was not sure what to do. Old boot is about 8cm at widest part, new one is 10.

Good shout on part nr on old boot, have cleaned off the muck and found an audi logo and code 1j0407283k.

An OEM one might be wise move too. May be a false economy getting a cheapo one?

Not sure it will need to last another 10 years and another 140k, but you might be right.
