EPC warning light and stalling in traffic

Featured Replies

Fabia 2005 1.4 16v

About 5 weeks ago EPC light and engine management light came on when driving. After stopping and restarting EPC went out but engine managment stopped on a couple of days then went out. Car seemed to run fine the whole time so ignored it.

This happened a couple of more times, then when turning the ignition back on, the light would stay on, sometimes for up to 5 days at a time. The engine (usually when braking to a halt with foot on clutch) then began to cut out.. The EPC light then came on with the engine management light. Ignition off and on, carries on stalling/failing to idle, restart 3 or 4 times, EPC light goes out, management light remains on. Stays on for varying lengths of time; the light never goes out with engine on, just doesn't appear after starting engine. (Occasionally the traction control light also comes on with the EPC and management lights and goes out with the EPC light when re-started.)

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to resolve it?

Thanks

Evening,

A good place to start is to see if there are any error codes on the ECU.

Hi

Took to a local garage and the error said it was the throttle body or two sensors near this.

Not sure if to replace the sensors first or the throttle body?

Anybody had this issue and what did they replace first?

Thanks

Check spark plugs...mine does this often albeit a mk2

Sounds a bit vague. Did they not make a note of the exact fault codes for you?

Hi

Got the fault code, it was 17961 (P1553).

Have replaced the throttle body today, will keep you informed of outcome!

Thanks

Hi

Replacement throttle body did sort out this issue, has not repeated problem since.  Has been over 18 months.
