FL vRS Tsi Coolant Loss

Featured Replies

Hi all, started the car this morning and as I went to pull off the red coolant warning light lit along with the warning chime. I'd never seen this before and as I was short of time I parked up and used the other car.

I've since checked the coolant to find it was below the minimum so have topped up with the appropriate coolant. On restarting the engine sounded like it was misfiring but then quickly settled into normal idle. I've taken it for a spin and its running at normal temps and pulling fine and is now smooth at idle.

Any ideas? Will obviously be checking the coolant regularly but I'm concerned that its been losing some at all.

It can happen from time to time, just keep an eye on it. Mine was low on my golf when I got it so topped it up and has been fine since.

Keep your eye on it & if it drop's over a short time? get it sniff tested.

same thing happened to mine. topped it up and its been ok since.

people have suggested when filled from factory there might be bubbles that come out later......

Cheers. Started ok again this morning and no issues showing over a 30 minute drive. Bit puzzled by the rough idling as the engine has never skipped a beat before but hope its just one of those things.

Car has gone in for MOT and 50k service. Just has a call to say "Have you remapped the car as its having trouble passing the emissions". Ouch...

Picked the car up from Sinclair last night. On the plus side 50k service done, 4 new tyres and nice clean car and all paid for by the servicing plan!

Downside is they still can't get it through emissions and there are no fault codes showing. They having for 2 days next week to investigate possible causes (mentioned MAF), so lets hope something comes to light. Very peculiar, hope its not a head gasket.

you guys have an emission test at every MOT?

Yes.

ouch! MOT every year?

sorry for the questions, but we clearly have it easy out here

Only once the car is 3 years old. From then on.

wow. we don't have inspections till the vehicle is 5 years old, and no exhaust tests unless youre 'randomly' picked up on the road or someone reports you for noise or pollution etc
