empty under the footmat?

There seems to be nothing under your feet...no filling?

???

Do you mean the carpet is thin, there is no squishy sound insulation?

yes, there seems to be nothing under the carpet, even pushing with a finger ecounters no resistance. There seem to be an abundant vacuum space between the black velcro and the metal body floor.

Welcome to Skoda ownership! Its usually the difference between a Tiguan and a Yeti or a Passat to a Superb - cheaper upholstery and less sound insulation eg thinner carpets too. :(

Sound insulation is not a Yeti strong point e.g. No under bonnet insulation on 1.2 Tsi engines.

No logical reason for this other than penny pinching IMHO. Carpets are also a bit thin.

But is it really a problem?

None of our Skodas are particularly noisy. The citigo is noisier round town but that is quite a pleasant sound accelerating. Quieter than the Yeti at motorway speeds. No under bonnet insulation on that.

The yeti is quite good too. Enough to have a conversation without raised voices at speed.

Thats exactly it for me. Skoda seem to cost cut in the right areas. If you look closely or check then yes its downgraded.... but you have to look! If they didnt cost cut they'd be near enough the same cost as the models marketed as being better!

It's not a matter of sound....I come from a fiat whose diesel engine was very noisy. It is just a matter of resistance: no support under the carpet, sometimes I fear of making a hole in the carpet!

Driving in stilettos is never recommended!

Buy a set of mats perhaps? Ive got the thick carpet ones and then the rubber ones on top! Id probably fail to get through that lot even with my Stilettos!

I have done the same. But why did I just not get the rubber mats and save me the cost of the Skoda mats? I think my rationale was to preserve the mats as new ready for sale time - sound familiar?

For me it was more a case of the final part of the haggle being mats, flaps and a full tank.... then I realised with all the mud I could potentially bring into the car, the wash down rubber ones made sense. :) Having said that, a positive side effect is certainly that the next owner will have a set of brand new looking mats installed. :)

Just noticed the "extras" you have fitted to your Yeti. Wish I was a bit younger and still earning (60 and retired), as would have gone the same route. Did pretty much the same to most of my cars "back in the day".
