S3 intercooler

Featured Replies

Hi wondering if anybody can help, purchased my octavia VRS (1.8t) 10 says ago, and got it mapped on Saturday ( Revo stage 1).

I was asking about the usual stuff exhausts, filters and front mounts, and the gentlemen that tuned my car advised me that all ill need is an s3 intercooler.

Does anybody have any info or experience wi this, a third party also told me this is a hard conversion !!!

s3s run a twin intercooler setup basically, ie 2 of what you have already, its not worth doing in my opinion, as there is a lot of pipework to add, plus they run a k04 setup. Either fit an uprated smic, like tyrolsport etc, or fit a fmic like the forge setup

Plus the S3 runs the throttle housing on the other side of the manifold so you will need one of them aswell,

Decent twin pass front mount designed for octavia (ie forge) is the easiest thing altho not the cheapest option,

I have a universal single pass front mount with BAM manifold conversion to move throttle housing to other side to keep pipework down to help reduce lag, it involved alot of work and not for the faint hearted altho i had advantage of having car off road for 3 months so i could take my time and do it right

What car did you buy if you dont mind me asking?

Do the uprated smic like the tyrosport 1 make much differance compared to the standard 1?

if its a decent smic, then yes it will, my one we custom made to my spec, and we logged it which showed reduced temps across the range, it was bar and plate too rather than tube and fin.As long as its decent construction, it should work well, as you are not introducing any extra lag unlike in a fmic setup. Look at tyrolsport, eurojet, forge (though i dont like theirs) and i think turborevs do an ebay special, that looks alright (might be wrong on the name of that one).

I bought a black octavia VRS 2002, needs a bit of TLC, but I'm over the moon with it.

lol, how awesome on a scale of 1 to ten?

I got myself a THS front mount intercooler off Jase on here. Far cheaper than a Forge and I don't see why! It's just as good as my mates Forge twin pass.

Its flipping brilliant. I've been seeing intake temps of around 10 degrees centigrade in the last couple of weeks. It does vary though depending on outside temp, but still i very rarely see it go above 20 degrees. Will need to check it when summer comes round again though!

Something to look at though fella.
