why is the same engine in the rapid faster than in a fabia

Featured Replies

I have a 1.2 htp 70bhp in my fabia, 0-60 is 14.9 seconds

but why is the same engine in the heavier rapid (albeit with 5bhp more) 13.9 secs 0-60?

different gear ratio's?

clue could be a slightly lower mpg on the rapid compared to fabia could give a clue if the ratios are slightly lower

I think the extra 5 bhp will make up a lot of the difference...

The Rapid has a very low drag coefficient and it is also pretty light for the size of car (only 45kg more than the Fabia hatch) The drag coeff. for the Rapid is the same as the Fabia Greenline.

Are they really putting the HTP engine in?

I thought it only came with the more modern TSI 1.2.

Yep, only in the basic one though.

Would the all the other engines be faster in the rapid than the fabia?

If they do a vrs with the same engine as a fabia, will it be at least a second faster 0-60, so sub 6 seconds in rapid vs sub 7 seconds in fabia vrs?

Cos it's called a " Rapid ". The new Fabia is going to be called " Not so Rapid "

Another new Fabia - so the bods at Skoda HQ have decided that the rabid Furby mk1 needs to be put down . Good.
