Skoda Yeti Camper

Featured Replies

Has anybody made any attempts to use the Yeti as a compact camper?

I have seen Yatoo and I am familiar with the Swiss RoomBox design, but would like to hear about other available options (both alternative commercial designs and DIY projects). I am mainly interests in solutions to fit a 190-200cm long sleeping space.

Is anything similar to AMDRO available for Yeti?

Cheers,

David

Have you perhaps considered a roof tent, such as the Maggiolina Airlander Small, which appears to be ideal for a Yeti, offers sleeping for 2 and space of 130x210?

A picture of a Yeti with such a mounted roof tent:

I have heard reports that the Caravan Club don't allow Rooftop tents on their sites. Something about fire regs.

No good for me, I sleep walk!

From memory the maximum roof load for the Yeti is 100 kg - how does the sleeper-roofbox overcome that? Is this load a maximum safe working load or is it a legislative/licensing thing?

Isn't that the max permitted working load? As in the maximum to drive with? Most top boxes I've come across have a lower load limit than that. I found that even then the effect on driving was greater than I was prepared to put up with (for my sort of use).

I presume the static load could be far more, as I would like to think that modern vehicles are designed to withstand rolling over, and the resultant dynamic forces would be far greater.

Well it was OK with a helicopter on the roof.
