Lock barrel tumblers

Featured Replies

Alright guys my drivers door lock was swapped out for one off a donor car all seemed well however donor car then was sold with the only key.

Now back to square 1 im looking at one of two options replaceing it with a ebay job £12 afair or can i re key the tumblers for my current key.

Any help would be appreciated as the central locking is also the blink so im haveing to get in from the passenger side!

Cheers ebo

Do you still have the old lock? If so you should be able to just swap the tumblers over

Na the car came without a lock on the drivers side dunno what happened to it but i sure do miss it lmao can you buy tumblers?

As long as you have the original barrels in the car...

...You can order a replacement barrel from Skoda directly.

All you need is the VIN number and they can send you one out that matches your keys.

It'll set you back £60 ish like, but obviously worth it :)

Presumably you still have original key to start car?, most locksmiths can tumble a lock for a reasonable fee.

Our local timpsons wont cut you a key unless you have a origenal unused spare... Its a joke honestly had a few runnins with them.

Dear option but better to replace the one lock opposed to the lot.

Anyone tried the replacement locks off ebay? Fair bit cheeper that oe cheap enough i could live with the seconde key lmao

You can probably do it yourself with a file and patience, I've done a couple of motorbikes.

Basically take it all apart, put the tumblers in in the order that most closely suits the key, then file them down flat.

Make sure you get all the wee filings out before reassembling, done

Like it man ordered a cheepo ebay job (tenner for new lock n two keys delivered) so will see how that goes and attempt a fileing job nights one of the taxis have a dud lock so cheepo wont go to waste anyway!

How do you get the tumblers actualy out of the metal case?

pass on that maybe someone else can tell you, on the bike ones that I've done there is usually a little retaining screw of some sort

Ebay cheepo direct swap and seems to work well!

How easy is it to change a lock? My octavia can only be unlocked from passenger door.

I will pop to skoda tomorrow and ask them about a replacement matching lock.

To replace the whole barrel?

A piece of cake.

Yeah think its a t15 torx screwdriver is best because the acces hole is tiny and quite deep to reach the retaining screw.
