running light upgrade for black & white's citygo

Featured Replies

I have bought the Phillips xenon Ultimate Effect, are these the same as Phillips X-treme vision +100% and anyone know when a twin filament DLR/Sidelight bulb will be released?

The Ultimate Effect are just that.....for the blue light effect (4000k). They claim 30% more light than a 'standard' bulb, whereas the X-treme Vision claim 100% more light at (2500k). Blue bulbs filter out part of the light spectrum. The E-treme will be more yellow in a comparison, but on their own are whiter than the original bulbs and don't throw an obviously yellow light at all. I am very satisfied with mine. On the other hand the Mtech DRL's are classier (matter of opinion) for daylight appearance than the originals. The originals look quite yellow in sidelight mode beside the Philips X-treme when the heads are lighting (see my post above). Also the Mtechs give a nice subtle blue glow to the DLR lenses when the DLR's are not lighting.

No info on twin element bulbs. Would like to know if they become available myself.

LOL just got mine through the post! yay Ash will have her sidelights back ;)

Now all you have to do is fit them :) and put the new mirror up in the lounge :p

So men are useful sometimes

Fitted the dual element bulbs this afternoon. The second bulb fitted did not light the parking light element initially. Inspection highlighted that the contacts on these bulbs are a single wire, whereas the Skoda originals and the single element version of these had the contact wires turned back on themselves to form a double wire contact. This means that the contact area is not as wide, so I aligned them and pulled them out a bit for a springier contact and that did the trick. Here they are partnered with Philips Extreme +100. Happy.

PS. The original Skoda installed running lights can be seen in the first image of my post #22 on the previous page to give some indication of the difference in colour temperature.
