As title says I have an engine temp drop and the orange management lights on again, any ideas as to what it may be? Hope you guys can come to the rescue

Coolant temp sensor?

May be worth getting a diagnostic done

You could check to see if you have a black coolant temp sensor , if you have just change it for the green one

If I am still sad , the part number is 059 919 501A , just approx £20 ish , so worth checking that first

The CTS is a 4 pin sensor , 2 of those pins work the temp guage

It was a common issue and the part was superceeded

First thing I bought for my son`s Golf when he got that , as they was so common

I can't see why you can't drive the car.

As already stated the CTS is a 4 pin 2 output sensor. One output is to the temp gauge the other is to the ECU, it is common for 1 or both sides to fail on the old black type which is no big deal if it just effects the temp gauge, but much more troublesome if the ECU side has gone down as the ECU won't fuel correctly. Replace with a genuine green VAG sensor & not a cheap aftermarket version or you'll be buying a genuine one soon after.
