Featured Replies

hey all.

The lights down the passenger side of the car (main beam and break light) wont turn off...the ignition is off and so is the light switch.

What do I do?

Cheers

Centralise the indicator stalk.

Thats a strange one for me. I'd remove the earth lead off the battery for half an hour and see if this does anything at all.

I was gunna say check indicator but wasnt sure if they had this feature and he said main and brake, it would usually be side lights front and rear.

Welcome to this forum.

Are you SURE it's the main beam and the brake light?

Logically you've turned the parking lights on. They come on when you turn the car off with the indicator on, or when you get move the indicator without turning the ignition on. However in that case the front and rear sidelights come on, not the lights you've mentioned (which I presume you've mistakenly quoted). You should also get a chime when the door's open. From the manual:

Parking light ?

– Switch off the ignition.

– Push the lever up or down - the right-hand or left-hand parking light

is switched on.

Information concerning the function of the lights.

• The turn signal system only operates when the ignition is switched on. The

corresponding indicator light ? or ? in the instrument cluster also flashes.

• The turn signal is automatically cancelled after negotiating a curve.

• The side light and rear light on the appropriate side of the vehicle are switched

on when the parking light is selected. The parking light function only operates if

the ignition is switched off.

• An acoustic warning signal will sound when the driver's door is opened if the

lever is not in the middle position after removing the ignition key. The acoustic

warning signal will stop just as soon as the driver's door is closed

At least you've introduced yourself and found something useful here

Parking lights. Pretty sure all VAGs have had this since at least the early 90s?
