We need a scouser to say ....(wait for it...):

"CALM DOWN, CALM DOWN"!

I have recently done mine with plumbers gold (all four doors) and they have not leaked since.

A bit of a tip for you is to cut away any of the foam from the old seal that has expanded out of the gap its meant to be sealing, it expands because it has failed, i just trimmed it all up with a stanley knife so im not trying to seal over a big buldge of foam.

Also once sealed i left my car running with the aircon on and heaters on hot full blast for and hour, i locked the car with the door lock and spare key. Got nice and hot in the cabin and dried it out nicely, i then ordered 10 packs of silicon chips (the same as you get in new boxes of trainers) and i placed them everywhere in the car.

Within a couple of day i have zero steam on the windows

Nice mate it's silica gel we used it in our aircraft so you cut the foam off and sealed it metal to metal yea? Because I was gonna get a new inner card with a new foam bead

Nah, no need to do that. The inner carriers are riveted in and are a right pain to get out/replace.

Plus it'll cost you a bit, and they'll only fail again someday......just seal the metal inner carrier to the frame. Job done!

That's the way Skoda would do it if you took it to a dealer.

Bought the vw dealer sealing kit, will see if that's any good :)

Lol already de riveted panel did it on drivers side only did it to get a bead sandwich between door an panel for a good seal

Hi

I had this problem and it was not the door carrier, the door seal presses down onto a thin ridge that on mine had rusted at the bottom under the seal and had blown. I cleaned up rust and crimped it to straighten it up. I bought a new door seal from Skoda not that expensive think it was about £20. Once the new door seal was on I used clear silicone sealant and sealed the door seal to the car, with the door open I just ran a bead to the half way point each side. Since I have done this the car has been bone dry even in all this wet weather. Hope this helps and is an easy fix.

I didnt cut it all out, i just cut out all the bits that have puffed out and swollen where they have failed and let water through, skoda guy told me to do it. you will see what i mean when you look at yours, makes sealing the area much easier

As DGW said, install some plastic curtains in the rear doors.

Let it dry out inside and wait for better weather to whip off the door cards

and seal them. Not pretty to look at but believe me they will keep anymore water

out until you are ready to fix it.

I had some in my fab for 6 months until it had completely dried the interior.

Then use either plumbers gold, shell tixophalte (What I used) or any bitumen based

sealant or alternatively I've just started using something called Soudal fix all at work which

also sticks to wet surfaces. I recently used it to seal a seeping toilet soil pipe

and it's now fixed and bone dry. (I'm a builder by the way so use this kind of

stuff all the time.)

Part of the problem is that the door carrier is zinc plated and silicone doesn't stick

to zinc very well. Zinc is also often used in roofing applications so if the product

you choose is suitable for roofing applications then you are off to a good start.

Don't forget 90% of us fabia owners have dealt with this before and are just

trying to help you mate

Now go and put your curtains in until this god awful rain calms down a bit.

Lol thanks mate i have also had the problem before but hoped the fix skoda did wasn't at fault oh well i've got plumbers gold on order no one by me stocks it the door panel and carrier are all ready off :( the foam is shot 3/4 of it is swollen, wet and stuck to the door so do you think its wise to try and get some more foam bead? Or jus use a whole lot of sealent?

Use plenty of sealant. More is definitely more.

It can't be seen when the door cards back on so knock yourself out.

It's more important to make sure it's a uniform thickness so you don't

get weak spots IMO. I used a pretty good splurge and used about 1/3

of a tube on the two rear doors.

+1

A real good amount, smoothed out to give a nice wide seal. Looks awful, but you don't see it when the card is back on.

Thats what i was talking about where its all blown and puffy, i just cut mine out with a stanley and then put the sealant actuall in the groove between the two panels making sure its sealed completely, worked a treat on all four doors

Get a load of these once the doors are sealed and leave them all the door pockets, dry as a bone in no time

http://www.amazon.co...f=pd_ys_iyr_img

Also dont make the cut on the sealant nozzle to small, mine was about 1cm in diameter, makes it VERY easy to smooth it down and get a good seal

There's a guy on eBay selling indicator silica beads, £10 for a kilo.

I reached down on the drivers side footwell yesterday and found 3 of my littl'ns cuddly toys absolutely dripping wet because of the footwell :(

So how do i fix this then?

Where are people saying to seal it?
