DSG PRNDS Illumination?

Recommended Posts

I've just had my gearstick replaced following a fault with the park release lock, £400 for the parts alone but luckily under warranty!

However, the illuminated indicator for neutral on the new unit (ie the N of the PRNDS) goes out when in neutral and only switches on when coming out of neutral? When coming out of neutral the N light often flickers slightly before coming on.

Please could someone comfirm the operation of their DSG unit is similar, I don't recall this behaviour before it was replaced. I've had the car for two years and the previous car was DSG but i dont remember seeing this before. In case it makes a difference it's the 7 speed 1.4TSI engine.

Thanks

Just tried mine. When 'N' is selected it glows brighter rather than goes out as yours seems to be doing. Trip back to the dealers may be on the cards! However, mine is the 6spd DSG so others may report differently. Hope this helps.

Mine does this too.

In fact, when the shifter is in any position, the corresponding PRDNS or + - lights up brighter.

Haha, just had a brain freeze moment. Looked at the pictures and went "hold on, they put the gear shifter on the wrong way, button and lights should be on the other side.." :wonder: Sunday evening and RHD doesn't mix obviously for a LHD guy :giggle:
