Drain Holes in Front Doors

Featured Replies

Had an 08 Fabia which had 3 drain holes equally spaced at the bottom of the front doors. My 61 reg Fabia only has 2, in the middle and at the back end of the door. So no hole at the front of the door.

As my drive slopes downwards, I get water collecting inside the doors unless I park facing up. I took this up with Skoda who said not to worry as this is the latest design. But I can't help feeling that water collecting inside the doors isn't doing the car any good at all.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this? Also, if I try to drill a hole at the front of each door to allow water to escape, is there anything inside the door that could get in the way or be damaged? Thanks.

Would think you would invalidate your anti corrosion warranty drilling holes in it; best leave it as designed and not worry about it. Be plenty of other places less seen also collecting water, which will not be displaced until you drive off.

All the car is completely dipped in a zinc primer bath before topcoat is applied then wax is sprayed into the doors so water will just run out as you drive

I notice the water running out when I open the doors. I will try not to leave it parked up wet for extended periods...

Had the same issue when I had my 2011 fabia. Steep driveway and water collects to the front of the door. Was a bit paranoid at first. Only issue I had was if it was full of water whilst on the drive and had a few extreme frosty days, what damaged could occur if the water inside had frozen solid?
