Water Ingress.....Found the source guys and its not rear doors..

try putting some masking tape with a line of washable felt pen on it where you suspect the water ingress

if water runs across the line of ink it should smudge it and you will then be able to narrow down the search areas

some may be condensation from the water already in the car so you will need to look for the bigest smudge first

My boot seal had water on and consequently my boot was frozen shut this morning

Glycerine (from the chemists) applied to rubber parts helps keep them supple in colder weather. Can use vaseline or even 3-in-1 oil but they stand a chance of perishing the rubber.

You can also use that cheap tesco dash shine on the rubbers this time of year.

I would stick a dehumidifier in the car, that should remove lots of moisture from the air inside the car, it's what I will be doing over night sometime next week.

My understanding of the problem with doors leaking is the blocked up drain holes, have people actually made sure the holes are unbloked before taking their doors apart?

my fabia vrs limited edition leaks from the back doors windows and my work mate has sealed them twice and also removed the door trim and resealed those. yet 4nths later they leak again and i have pools behind both front seats again. i think skoda should do a recall to fix the problem instead of just taking our hard earned cash and filling their pockets

Unfortunately it not a case of blocked up drain holes - defintely not. Your understanding is unfortunately wrong in this respect. Mine were completely clear. It's a basic inherent built-in design flaw with the design of the door carriers and the sealing method employed therewith. The problem is worse with later cars because the rivetted-on door carriers don't have the seals compressed sufficiently. Yes - you're hearing that right. There was a problem and a Skoda build modfification made it worse...

I'm confused there - what do you mean by the comment the windows have been sealed? There is no need to seal the windows. The seal is between the door carrier and the door and needs to be done thoroughly and carefully with the correct sealant to ensure it works.

Have you seen my other topic detailing the solution for my SE; the water was coming in in front of the front door and tracking back through the front underlay - not being very visible there since it's got a rubber topping - then exhibiting itself in the rear footweel?

Any news or updates on the leaking boot rubber problem?

I've found a leak in my vrs but its not the rear doors. It the boot rubber so I've ordered a new one.

Keep me posted if that sorts it out bud, cheers. Is it much for a new rubber?

Hey guys, I installed a new pollen Cabin Filter. Has really improved the condensation problem.

However, there is still an issue IMHO as the windows do steam up a lot on some occasions.

Cabin Filter WILL help a lot IMHO..

Will watch this thread still with intrest as I am also thinking about getting a new boot rubber. Because water still sits there on the edge...

I got it from tps it'll be here tomorrow and also brought new intercooler seal for the pipe from the turbo as brought a forge pipe for cheap

I find that the rear drivers side window tends to creep down a little which also allows water to seep in, I wind it up and check a month later and it's slipped down about 5-10mm again.

Hey guys, I installed a new pollen Cabin Filter. Has really improved the condensation problem.

Not really sure why a new filter would have cured the problem. If the old one was retaining moisture and then causing the windows to steam up, how will the new one obviate the problem? If the filter is getting wet won't it continue to get wet? It will be interesting to know what the situation is in a month or so's time.

I find that the rear drivers side window tends to creep down a little which also allows water to seep in, I wind it up and check a month later and it's slipped down about 5-10mm again.

I'd noticed that occurring too - but I was more concerned about security than water ingress.

I thought it might have been causing it by knocking it when putting my briefcase onto the back seat (no one travels in the back so it couldn't have been others).

The alternative scenario is that the handle in its closed position is being jolted when going over bumps and the weight of the handle is causing it to rotate and open the window.

I took it off, repositioned it about 180 degrees to hopefully obviate the second possibility and I've not noticed it happening since.

I have sealed all four of my doors and yet my car still steams up and the rear window freezes in the cold.

Had a look whilst it was raining today and water appears to be running from half way up the boot rubber seal, down the seal and down to where the boot latches shut, its then pooling around the latch area and making the interior of the car damp.

I will investigate this more when its not raining/freezing.

Nothing in my car is soaked but it all feels damp, doors are now leak free so its all the boot leak and probably a damp pollen filter

new boot rubber put on today, try to get all the water out the rear footwell too. Took all the mats out to so hopefully the foot heaters will dry it a little better.

Did you have the issue of water lying on the boot seal? Hopefully the new seal sorts it and ill be off for one :)

The boot shuts better and it was from tps £18. Will report back in a few days

I had an interesting chat with a SKODA tech today and he looked at my boot leak for free :rock:

He was however stumped as to how water is getting over the rear boot seal and into the latch area, all my boot drain holes are clear.

He did however come up with a VERY interesting point, he said to me "are your boot rubber feet wound all the way in?" to which i shrugged my shoulders, we went to the car and yep you guessed it they were wound all the way in.

He undid both a couple of turns and floods of water came pouring out over both rubber feet, appear the water doesnt drain away from these properly!

Drove it around a bit and some water still appeared in the latch area but no where near as much as i had been getting, we dont know if this was water left in the boot panels or not, so to be on the safe side i also ordered a new boot seal.

The part number from Skoda is 6Y0827705C and its £18.88 including VAT.

The parts arriving Wednesday so i wil keep you posted

well mine was defo leaking from the boot rubber.you could see the water trail. Got the water out the foot well too. It rained here most of the night and now and its still dry.

But I will check the little rubber feet on the boot too.

I think something that skoda should have sorted along with everything bloody else....
