Creations Motorsport Silicone hoses - turbo->pancake pipe

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Having bought the 5 piece silicone hose kit from creations for my vRS a few months ago... I have finally gotten around to trying to fit the pipes under the wheel arch. However, I expected that the "turbo outlet" hose was supposed to replace the pipe going into the pancake pipe like so:

post-30996-0-16403100-1354116668_thumb.jpg

But evidently they are completely different sizes and it doesn 't come with the metal fitment at the top or a reducer. Has anyone tried to fit this selection of hoses?

Like in a number of other posts I have seen, the existing pipe seems quite loose, which is a bit surprising on a 2005 with 70k on the clock. So I'm debating to cut my losses with the pipe and try the updated skoda one or try one of the setups found here: http://forums.vwvort...3081&viewfull=1 .

Can any of the creations reps see where I am going wrong with this pipe? I am a bit surprised the kit comes with so much less than is required to fit it.... I can't see any other pipe this could try to replace, unless they happen to have revised the design?

Also, a quick question on refitting the pipe: The circlip came completely off when I removed the pipe, so I have re-fitted with one end around one of the metal lugs near the top and the drivers side, but cannot see anything for the other end to go into, is this correct? It is seated in the grooves so the pipe can't come out, it's just the bent end of the clip rests on the side.

Cheers,

Rob

That pipe is from turbo outlet to intercooler pipe on top not that pipe in the pic !!

Oh, oops, sorry! Thought they couldn't have got it that wrong when making it! I didn't even know there was a pipe to replace up there, looks like it will be a PITA to get to the bottom of but never mind.

Does it look like I've put it back correctly though? I guess I'll find out if it pops off when I'm driving... but I'd rather it didn't, especially if the circlip goes missing.

Thanks anyway, I'll have a better look round the engine bay next time

Take a sealant for oil pan or something similar and apply it to the metal end of the hose, then insert it to the upper metal pipe. This will glue two pipes together. Be sure that the sealant is temperature resistant.

This is what I did and no more 17705 error

I made the same mistake when I bought the Forge 5 turbo hose kit. I found this fix on the VW forum.

http://forums.vwvort...ead.php?3665036

It shows some interesting solutions, I did ask Forge (about 3 years ago) if they did a

replacement of some sort for that fitting but the answer was no.

I'll look into getting any sealant, is there anything that is recommended before I trawl throug the web?

I think if I went for the other solution I would go for a new (charge?) pipe. According to one of the VWvortex forum links the old AGU engines used a pipe with a bead on it rather than the new funny clip solution so I might try to find one of them, either way I intend to leave myself the option of removing the mods on the car in case I decide to give up on this modifying business.

From what I have read, the latest revision of the pipe was good enough on Stevie Wonder's old / Clives? vRS which has a tad more boost, so maybe I can go OEM on this one.... hmmm... decisions

My new car but doesn't run that anymore as it didn't cope !!!

The part is now revised and better seal so oem will be fine

I have just fitted the Samco kit to my car, and thought the same as you, turns out that pipe you have at the top is hidden by removable heat protection. Took me and a mate 20 mins to figure out, both felt like a couple of numpties afterwards.

Hi,

Just want to bring this thread back up as I have just bought the 5 piece hose kit from Creation

Can someone just clear up for me about the "Turbo outlet hose" as there seems to be mixed answers about this, Does the turbo outlet pipe need modifiying in anyway to be fitted to the turbo outlet?

Cheers

The turbo outlet hose is at the top at the back of the engine bay, under some heat resistant wrapping with press studs. It connects the turbo to what seems to often be referred to as the charge pipe. This goes down the back of the engine to another pipe that then goes into the pancake pipe.

The pipe I think you are hoping to replace it the one that goes from the charge pipe to the pancake pipe (behind the wheel arch) and is pictured in my first post in this topic at the bottom (the s-shaped one with the metal end). If you want to change this pipe then there are some suggestions in the VW Vortex thread posted by Silver Bullet.
I haven't been able to find a kit that replaces this pipe, and since getting a boost gauge that reads 0.9-1 bar (I have a stage 1 re-map), I haven't felt the need. The suggestions on VW Vortex involve buying pipes with appropriate bends and cutting/joining them to fit and doing one of 2 things to the charge pipe (assuming it's like mine):

- Buying one from another engine that uses a different pipe and has a bead on the bottom of the pancake pipe. Can't remember the engine code without going through the Vortex thread.
- Modifying the existing pipe by cutting a bit up and then creating a bead with a roller or weld or cutting slits in the end and folding it over.

P.S. when fitting the rest of the kit, I found some pipes needed trimming and the turbo outlet pipe was tight onto the charge pipe at the top. You can just about manage to fit the intercooler to throttle body pipe without removing the headlight but I don't recommend it as you need to watch the angle you trim to (this is based on using the DV relocation version of the kit mind so that pipe might be a bit different). I decided to trim the pipes based on reading the forge instructions for fitting their DV relocation kit.

(Edited as firefox removed all of the line breaks *sigh*)

Thanks for that advise, I will look into that tomorrow,

sorry fopr the double posting ha ha..

To put it basically then as iv put a post about getting a hissing noise from my wheel arch area under boost,

This is most likely to be the pancake hose with the beading around it, But the strange thing is my boost guage boosts at 0.7Bar then drops to 0.5, Is this normal? and is the hissing from the pancacke area normal?

Cheers

Powell2.0 did quite a good response which really his first paragraph i think maybe the answer to your question regarding the  90' bent pipe in the 5 piece kit. A lot of folks don't fit that as they struggle to find where it fit's lol.

If you are not getting any engine check codes i would not fiddle with the lower hose from the metal pipe to pancake pipe

Yes it is buddy as that hose can get a lot of oil in it over time and this can cause the ends of the rubber hose to reduce in size and cause a leak. Hissing from the pancake is defo not normal

Hi Bowders thanks for the reply,

The hissing noise I am getting is not directly from the pancake pipe, its from around that area. Iv heard the Octavia's make noise on boost, but its it normal for it to be noticable with the windows and doors shut?

Yeah I did not mean from pancake pipe but hose to it that can hiss. But you could just have a std whistle that the car does do on going through rev range. It can be heard in car with windows up and normally from passenger side where dv is located.
