Split washer pipe

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So been into skoda today with my 59 plate Octavia SE 1.4tsi. The rear jet washer was not working, I simply thought it was a blocked nossle. But on route to skoda I thought I would just make sure it was not working lol when I did this I ended up with a wet foot :-(

Turns out that they think it's a split washer pipe running behind the dash :-/ They have said this is a pig of a job and estimated it may take around 3-4 hours to fix? Does this estimate sound right?

The cars got manufactures warranty left till Monday!! Which the said should over it and that it would defiantly not be covered on the used approved warranty! :-(

Anyone else had this issue before?

Cheers - Dave

Yep I have that exact issue in my Scout and tried to locate said split pipe from underneath by remove the lower parts of the dash. Suffice to say it is buried well up into the depths of the dash where I couldn't get to it.

Dealer said same to me, 3-4 hours labour to remove the dash and refit circa£300 so I left it. When I get the time I will feed a new pipe through the bulkhead and attach to the old in the engine bay and behind the glove box, much more sensible way to do things and should be much easier and quicker than removing the dash. The old pipe can just be cut off and abandoned. I'm sure dealer could do this for maybe half hour labour plus pence in parts but they're just too greedy.

Very common problem, although it tends to split above the roof lining or in the boot right above an electronic controller.

It's a shame to see this fault on a relatively late model Octavia. Skoda haven't bothered to try and eliviate the issues then!

Yes I can never understand why they don't just leave the old pipe in place and run a new one via an easier route as you have suggested. Perhaps Skoda insist they do it by the book, but it does appear to make heavy weather of it.
