New Monte arrived in Grimsby today

Featured Replies

Well after ordering our Fabia MC with ESP+, cruise and light washers on the 28th Sept and being told to expect her no earlier then Jan, I've just had a call from the dealer to say she was on a ship which docked in Grimsby today :wonder:

Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, as we really wanted it in the new year rather than the end of this one. Shouldn't complain mind 8 weeks and 6 days from order to landing in the UK is pretty quick, considering it took almost 6 months to get the Yeti :giggle:

mine would of been on the same ship. Looking forward to having my Monte before christmas :D :D

hi checked status of mine today its built but still in the factory

Have been given a reg no. today and hoping to pick up late next week, just awaiting confirmation from dealer of expected arrival with them and PDI lead time.

Enjoy TP. Just a tad sooner than expected though

Headlight Washers ! I didn't realise they were an option?

Think this next week is going to go so slooooooowwwwwww lol

Thanks Lee,

looking forward to collection day but as you say a little quicker than intended and it's got me 'running' around a bit trying to get things sorted, such as putting the current cars plate on retention. Had intended to start this type of thing next week slow time ready for January :giggle:

Yes they have been on the Fabia option list for some while; one of the things I wish I'd opted for with the current Elegance. Not actually seen a Fabia with them myself other than a couple of owners photos.

Yep know the feeling

Hi Mick,

wish I could give you a straight answer but there isn't one. Can be almost straight on the boat from factory to stuck waiting passage for a couple of weeks or more. Once it's arrived in the UK it can take maybe ten working days to take delivery; mine arrived last Thursday and I'm picking her up this Friday. Hopefully yours will be on its way soon, believe as a general rule there are at least two or three shipments into Grimsby every week.

Want to be really sad :giggle: you can monitor shipping entering Grimsby and look out for ship names ending in Highway. Mine arrived on the Main Highway; checked it up after the dealer rang to say she had just arrived in Grimsby.

Currently as it happens the Weser Highway has just departed this evening and the Neckar Highway is due in tomorrow;

Enjoy the new car when she arrives.

Thanks for info TP.

Yes your right it was sad looking at the link but that didn't stop me, LOL, my sister always said i was sad that just proved it.

The sooner the new one comes the better the Roomy is now tainted ,parked in an unloading bay to unload at the post office today , and got a ticket for actually daring to unload she said i should left the boot open yeah like thats go to happen, and get every else nicked. :@

Enjoy the new car tomorrow.

Well the Monte is now on the drive exactly 10 weeks from order. Very impressed with the looks of the thing in the candy white finish and red interior. As stated in another post the dealer has a black one in the showroom, which looks very nice too but I feel the white edges it with the contrast between the black and the white; first white one I've seen by the way.

Overall, although I'm comparing only 70 miles worth of driving a new car, against 21,000 miles in a 2 and a bit year old one, I would say the MC is nicer to drive than the standard Elegance spec equivalent. Seats nicely hold you in place and there's more control from the sports suspension. Read somewhere, that someone hated their MC suspension that much, they had it replaced with one of the 'pro' kits but my first impression is that it's quite good IMHO. Rims and curbs are going to be a concern there's very little rubber to protect them, oh talking of which ours has the Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres, which appear much better than the Conti PremiumContact2 tyres other Skoda's we have bought over the last few years have been shod with.

Mention has also been made on the forum regard poor lights. Well again I think the ones on this Monte are better than the Elegance she replaces, other than on full beam as the dark lights do without the separate 'spot' lamps. Still intend to install Nightbreaker + bulbs mind. Another thing I like is the more subdued green back-lighting to everything bar the radio display, as I didn't spec climate or maxidot; felt the white just a little to crisp/sharp on the Elegance and unlike the Yeti non adjustable for intensity of brightness.

Will try get some pics tomorrow, as it was starting to get dark when I left Horton's Lincoln, who I also feel deserve a little mention for the excellent deal they offered me on this car and the P/X.

A couple of photos after my DIY Autoglym Lifeshine application. Quite pleased with the results' as I'm quite ham-fisted when it comes to detailing :giggle:

Not quite sure when she was built, dealer never did get round to telling me but the engine build label is dated 13/11/12.

Hi Ken,

will be trying out the prototype flaps tomorrow all being well, as I'm intending to drop the 17" alloys off for a while and fit 15" Skoda 'Line' alloys (silver finish) with 195/55 R15 Avon winter tyres. That should be an interesting looking MC :giggle:

Detailing is the modern term for what I used to know as valeting as I understand it. Dealers often offer you a paint protection program and in the process relieve you of an extra £150 to £300 to carry it out. AutoGlym Lifeshine is one of the more common treatments they offer. Had two of my cars protected in this way previously but felt disappointed by the quality of their work, and poor value for money. Therefore I bought the kit from ebay for £13 and applied it myself. Mind it has to be applied prior to any polishing, so I had to ask my dealer not to bother which raised an eyebrow or two

Think I did a better job overall, particularly as I had time to take it at my own pace, unlike the dealers who throw it on as quickly as possible.

Hi TP,

the car looks good hope you enjoy it. Mine has dropped of the planet, apparently it is now awaiting a build date, which considering it was at the docks awaiting shipping is slightly worrying  , perhaps there is system problem or a black hole, which Skoda's disappear into LOL :giggle:

Let me just stop you there (correct me if im wrong as they maybe do with preception of words)

Valeting and detailing are two hugely different things in my understanding.

I call valeting a baisc clean (ie wash dry dress trims hoover and dress dash etc)

Detailing is far more envolved and detailed. I.e the use of clay polish via machine and the application of waxes.

Whats you thoughts?

Not sure; up to a three years ago I'd not come across the term detailing myself, in reference to car cleaning/polishing :wonder:

Oh not a clay bar fan, seem to cause just as many issues using one as I'm trying to resolve, despite following the manufactures instructions for use :wonder: :wonder:

Back at the dealers today to get auto lock/unlock enabled and winter wheels rebalanced. had noticed a slight wobble after transferring them from the previous Fabia; possibly lost a balance weight :wonder:

Anyway ended up parked next to her non identical twin; had been in the showroom for sale when I collected ours last week.

Thought it might be if interest to some to see the two colours side by side, apologies it's a little grainy, weather poor and used the phone camera.

My personal taste says the all black version is nicer :)

Cant put my finger on why
