IMHO, all alarms are much of a muchness, and let's face it, who actually does anything other than ignore a car alarm when it goes off, anyway? The stock one will let you know if someone's having a go just as well as any other, I think. Diskloks, etc. are good as a visual deterrent, but even the best can be busted off AFAIK. There's always a tracking device if you're that worried (especially as it'll help protect your car even if your keys are nicked or you're carjacked - Heaven forbid!), which won't cost much more than a top-of-the-range alarm.

At the end of the day, I gather the Skoda immobiliser is pretty good, and that's the thing that'll stop someone driving your car off if they break in; not an alarm...

I had an A850T on my old Megane Coupe as it didn't come with a stock alarm. Was generally pleased with it - it worked off the central locking key fob, and only went off spuriously twice in 2 1/2 years, which isn't too bad. The only thing I didn't like was the arm/disarm beep, which was almost as loud as the siren, which pee-ed off the neighbours, and didn't make the sort of 'chirp' sound I really wanted (vain, I know...! ;) )

Sorry if I haven't been much help, but it's all a matter of opinion what's best. I have a Stoplok Pro, for visual deterrence and also protection against road ragers (not that I've ever met one, but you never know... :thumbdwn: )

The Octavia VRS dosn't come with a 'stock' alarm, only an immobiliser. Car security all depends on how paranoid you are and they are mainly for your own peace of mind. Having said that, if I were a car theif and had the choice of taking a car with or without an alarm fitted...I know which one I would choose.

I have a clifford 950 G5 concept (with ultrasonics, proximity sensor etc). Never had any trouble yet (touches wood).
