A good place for geometry check near York? not tracking

Featured Replies

Hay, anyone know a good place to get my geometry sorted near York or Leeds? already had my tracking done but need to geometry done.

There is a big difference between the two checks as my mkII VRS does not have a solid rear axle given all (16) bushes there are back there.

Here is some interesting reading,

plus spoke with a VAG master mechanic, who says they often come out of the factory wrong and hardly get checked

Cheers

Chris

Your meaning a professional 4 wheel alignment,

Alot of manufacturers have the same problem, think there done at factory but by time cars get to dealers all suspensions settled and out of alignment,

We do them at work but never done a mk2 octavia, more used to volvos

I used ABC Aligment in leeds as they came recomended on here, glad i did, they did a great job on my octy, very proffesional & helpfull, was worth travelling from york to leeds. They do a lot of octavia's for the local dealers as well, they let me stand under the car as they did the adjustments & explained what was out & the best adjustment for my driving style, none of this sit in reception & we will give your car back to you with no explanation whats been done.

I'm going to ABC tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Could do Harry, need to phone them to find out the cost first and then I'll send you a PM

I've just come back from ABC. Had the full setup redone. It was quite a bit out, but they put it as best they could. To confirm what others have said, very friendly staff, greeted with an offer of a cuppa and they involve you bringing you to have a look at what they're doing. Took a bit of time, so I don't know if going there in a group is a good idea, but I'm happy with the service.

Thinking of getting this done on the new car.

It feels fine and doesn't feel out but would you recommend getting it done anyway?

Heard some good things about this place.

How much do they charge?

Phil

I'm heading over there shortly too, once I get some bushes changed.

As Mike says Phil, get it checked and then you're sure it's as it should be. I'd imagine it'll be in the £70 area, but it's money well spent. I'm sure one of the guys who's been there already will confirm.

I paid £60 for mine (april 2012) but it will vary on each car as it depends on how many adjustments are req & if anything is seized etc, best just to go & get it done & see what it will cost as its worth it anyway.

Interested in having mine done I think too, as been mentioned we all get uneven tyre wear.
