suspension kits advice

Featured Replies

Im after a suspension kit for my mk1 octavia vrs. What suspension kits would you guys recommend and why? I dont really want to go the coilover route tbh. And i would only want to lower max 40mm.

Avoid Koni STR-T. Really bumpy.

H&R springs have been good on other motors for me. I'm dying to try Koni FSD's, but they don't do a set for the vRS Estate. :(

And 40mm might be getting close to taking it too far on a vRS tbh, if you want to retain good handling.

Thanks for that, I'll probably go for 30mm then. Was looking at the weitec, AP or apex ones but thought I'd get some feedback first. I'm not been gonna be doing any track days or touring car style driving anytime soon lol.

ive had the same questions, did do a thread last week. Basically if you want to retain some comfort but improve handling the its h&r springs and koni fsds. If you want to go lower than the 20mm this will give then its coilovers from the advice i was given. There are springs and shocks kits listed, but as was pointed out to me enless vrs specific you need to take the 20mm off the listed drop as the vrs is lower than other models as standard.

There are also very few kits that are vrs specific for the weight. If i had the money i would go for h&r monotube or kw3 or kw streetride(street something anyway) coilovers. Its just so annoying that the h&r springs are 20mm and not 30mm.

I know you don't want coilovers but weitecs are really good, changed mine a couple of months back and Swmbo hasn't noticed, not too firm just nice and to look at the car it isn't much lower

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

If you're wanting a full 40mm drop on the VRS then you would really need coilovers.

Something like the KW 55mm kit mentioned above would give a good stance on the VRS and in my opinion is enough of a drop.

Apex don't do a springs and shocks kit for the VRS.
