Subject: Stage 2 1.4tsi

Hi I was reading a few well known uk forums about problems with the stage 2 software on the 1.4tsi engine. I was just emailing you to see if these problems have been addressed at all and if stage 2 is still available for the 1.4tsi engine.

Thanks and regards

>Hi Mike

We haven't heard of anyone experiencing "misfire" issues caused by stage 2 software and all of our software has been tested and developed without experiencing this issue.

The 1.4TSI engine is notorious with issues from the factory; Revo software has been developed to limit the factory misfire issues. Revo also recommend changing the factory spark plugs to NGK BKR7EIX Irridium plugs to further prevent misfire problems. The 1.4 TSI struggled with misfires, excessive oil consumption issues, injector problems amongst others as standard and so many Revo dealers refused to flash software until the vehicles underwent recall work at the factory.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

I like the bit where he asks "which issue?"

Nothing like jumping in with two feet

Haha I thought everyone would like to see what I have been getting up To in my free time, feel free to comment then I'll include some back to revo.

Tbf theres nout wrong with my stage 1 map....except the massssssivvveeee dip between the supercharger and the turbo taking over

I just think the way they handle things is a bit shoddy

No one has ever disputed the power REVO maps make on any of the VAG cars, they are always top contenders for the biggest Hp, but its aftersales which let them down. That and the fact that any issue "is not the map"

Cant blame dealers not wanting to be involved with tuning this engine. With the 1.8T and 2.0TFSI/TSi engines, once they were mapped,, barring the odd boost leak due to hardware faults they were bombproof. The 1.4TSI is so prone to misfres etc as standard that I wouldnt be surprised if tuners start to withdraw any future software on this engine.

Doubt I'll bother tuning my car now. It may cost you more but if you buy the car with the performance in the first place or as close to it only minimal fiddling will be needed. Lot less chance of problems. I might lower it but that's all. You say these engines are prone to misfiring from standard but mine has been fine. I use oil but nowhere near as much as most on here. I might as a precaution change to those better plug mentioned at 20k but then again if it ain't broke don't fix it.

most of the misfires you will not even notice as they dont register on the Dash or give fault codes. You only see them when live data logging.

I enjoy the modification scene though, even if i bought a 400Hp car, id still tweak it anyway lol.
