Can you help?

Featured Replies

Fellow Fabia II owners, I would like to know if anybody can help me out with a loan of a roof rack or sell me one that fits the Fabia II.

I was unfortunate enough to smash the Yeti up last night and we have a holiday booked in Scotland for Christmas, so it will be a trek in the VRS but I need to put the roof box on so we can get the family, the dog and the luggage in too.

I can collect and return you roof rack if a loan is offered or I can collect when buying.

Thanks for looking, I hope somebody can assist me.

Jamie

If you get no luck there are companies that hire them out (racks included) place near me does them. Was £40 for the roof rack and another £40 for the roof box for a week.

Sorry to hear about the Yeti :'( hope your OK though and I wish I could help but likewise only have kit for the Monster.

Have you tried fleebay :wonder:

Hope you can get sorted.

Regards as always,

TP

Thanks Guys, I think I am going to hire one, looks a reasonable amount of money and it will help me out of a fix.

I am fine suffering no problems, Yeti has arrived at the repairers and I emptied my stuff out of it today, courtesy car is an issue, nobody can decide if I can or can't have one!! It will get sorted eventually.

Here is a link to a picture of Yeti post 242. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/250857-superskoda-lower-grill-winter-cover/page__st__240

Ouch, although only cosmetic as you say. Any chance they can fix it before you go?

I have spoken to the guy today at Howard Basford, I asked if it would be ready by the time I go? He said an investigation and estimate would be put together tomorrow, that is sent to the insurer, who then when next passing will call in to confirm the estimate or change it, on his return to the office he will issue an order/job number, on receipt of this parts will be ordered, once ALL parts are to hand the car is scheduled for the workshop (dependant on what is already in) then and only then will the car be touched, I bet I won't get it back until mid January.

I have tried to bride the guy with a tray of lager and a few bottles of wine for the office staff, didn't work though.

I haven't got a replacement car yet either! If I was doing it myself it would have been well and truly stripped now and parts ordered, then paint and back together all within a week.

What bars do you have for the Yeti?

I have Thule bars, that I originally had on the Superb and got the feet for the Fabi and they're the same ones for my wife's Golf. I think the Thule fitting kit (feet) are about £35.

I have genuine Yeti bars but I also have thule bars with no feet, the joys of a new car every three years, all of them need a different roof rack.

You can buy feet separate. I did this when I went from Mk1 to Mk2 Fabia. Problem was it was also a slightly wider car so I ended up buying new bars anyway

I have found a place in Stockport that will hire the bars, so this is an option or if I am really lucky the Yeti might be back (might be a bit optimistic) if not I have priced the foot pack and it needs a fitting kit too so all in about £75

Ooh - wounder - fitting kit and feet. I just had to buy the fitting kit to switch from Superb to Fabia (I was amazed it was the same width bar) and if I need to, get the kit for the Golf.

Of course, now I'm £150 in or so, my next car will be different.

I do have a set of Halfords bars for a Mk4 Golf (with fitting kit) if that's any use (and I can get it too you)?

Thanks for the replies and offers of assistance, but I have had some good news today, the Yeti is almost complete and I will get it back on Friday, we go away on Saturday morning, so I have been lucky.

Thanks
