I wonder why the rear windows are in two parts?? Anyone wondered why this is ?

Yes there is. Mostly cost reasons.

Why didn't they go the whole hog and just have a fixed light? Then they maybe able to cure the wind noise!

Probably because you wouldn't be able to roll down the rear windows if it wasn't split into two parts. The wheel well gets in the way. Same on many other cars.

Look at the shape of the back door. If the glass was all one piece you'd only be able to wind it down a couple of inches. Lots of four door cars are like this.
