Wagon and Drag speed limits.

Featured Replies

So after following a large wagon and drag type quarry stone truck up a long slow hill  and then down an equally long hill with double whites I come to a very gentle downhill / flat bit of over a mile of arrow straight road before the next long slow hill. Really good look and nothing coming, pull out small press on the pedal to smoothly overtake, glance at the parking bay at the far end of the straight to see, just coming into view behind the trees...a cop camera van. Glance down to see I'm doing 68. Smeg.

If i've been done then well that's life and frankly I know, speed is bad and I will go straight to hell.

Question is, if I was a bit over...what's the speed limit for the wagon and drag...as I reckon he was probably 55 at the end of the downhill when I started the overtake.

On a single carriageway road I think it's 40mph.

Phil

Prob 60

40mph on a single track road

50 on a dual carriageway

60 on motorway

Edited for spelling of dual - a trainee spelling Nazi should know better.

In that case I suspect he's in more trouble than me. Oh well at least I've been bad in company.

Indicated 68 was probably a real 65/66.

Pretty good chance nothing will happen but you won't know for two weeks.

Er yeah, indicated on the TomTom...

Oh well 20 year clean record, we shall see.

one of the problems with modern road safety gone mad. lots of stretches of road like this in west wales but they are trying to address problems with regular safe overtaking areas, oh and the dont park Cash machines camera vans on them either :D
