Octavia 1.9 TDI Classic 2004 - Monty

Featured Replies

I bought this a few weeks ago to replace my aged Audi.

246k miles, no history, MoT until August tax April.

I put 4 new tyres on it (Goodyear Ultragrip 8 195/60R15 winter tyres).

And after 3 days the wipers stopped. £181 and a new motor later....

Needs a service (bought the oil and filters) and a set of glow plugs.

Done approx 1400 miles so far in 12 days.

Really pleased with it.

Needs front discs and pads doing. And cambelt. And minor bits.

Cheers

Steve

Thats a proper work horse. Were you not bothered by the lack of history?

  • Author

Not bothered really.

It was cheap. And they are bombproof.

Changed oil today at 249k miles.

Mega easy to do with cartridge filter and a sensible place for sump plug.

Quantum Longlife III 5W30. Changed oil filter. Changed air filter too.

Got tracking done last week, as my tyres were feathering on outside edges. The car was toe in by 14mm!!

Will look at putting vegetable oil through it at some point.

Have done approx 2700 miles in 3 weeks.

Ordered a VRS leather steering wheel as mine is horrible (worn plastic and is delaminating from metal wheel). Might order a new gear knob too.

Now done 3,109 miles in 3 weeks. Still loving it.

  • 1 year later...

Hi, do you still have this car? Is it still going ok? I saw a 54 plate passat last week on 580,000!
