Hi I'm looking at chopping in my 10 plate octy vrs in race blue for a 59 plate vw caddy Sportline van I've added a satnav, full size alloy spare and eibach springs. It's currently on nearly 19k miles. I'm getting some real stupid offers of 9.5k from many dealers-taking the p!?s I think! Payed 13.5k for it 7 months ago so ain't gonna take a 4k loss in that time. I know I'd be better off private selling but can't be left without wheels. Any help out there on how to get a better price trade in? Seen quite a few out there around the 12-12.5k mark with slightly more miles. Cheers guys

You will always get a much lower offer than advertised price. The garages have to make their money somehow.

sound about normal. Car will have depreciated by £2.5K - another owner on the V5, more miles on the clock, car older, times hard and cars more difficult to sell, maybe you paid over the top in the first place? and as chris_1d says - dealer need to make their money somewhere.

Owning cars is an expensive business and changing them after only a few months is a very expensive business..

Thanks guys, I'm not desperate for a van but would make life a lot easier. Will miss the speed and handling of the octy. Hmmm still not made my mind up as that sort of price would break my heart!!

Your car is coming up on 3yr so hits another big depreciation point when the warranty expires. You'll be getting the whole drop for year 3-4. That's what hepped to mine. Big drop at 3yr point then nothing for the rest of that year.

Anyone know much about the caddy sportline? Any good? I've heard mixed reviews

At the end of the day it's a van and built for a purpose. They do look a bit flashy in sportline, but they are no better than say a transit. I have a transporter at work that is the twin turbo 180hp diesel DSG with 4x4 lwb, and a fiat scudo lwb 120hp and I don't think one is better than the other. The only difference the transporter is faster.

And it is not a Fiat
