Failed rear left lighting and tailgate opener

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

Been a while but my first issue has come up with my Superb Wagon and hopefully some one can enlighten me. 40,000km

Lamp warning has come up on the dash and maxidot indicates the following

Reverse bulb

Fog bulb

brake bulb

number plate bulb

Indicator left bulb.

I have checked every bulb and all good, plugged the left tail light into right harness and all illuminates and all good. Electric release on tail gate wont open boot.

Pushing key fob activates door locks etc but only one indicator flashes.

Checked all fuses and all ok.

Previously the front day time running bulbs went, changed out and been running fine for 6 months.

Still under warranty and dealer not much help at this stage. Gleaning info off the internet points to body control module.

Any advice welcomed

Colleague had a very similar issue with his Superb - traced to wiring in the boot/hatch (worn through in a couple of places).

tiwi,

Does this hapen on hot days?

As I had it happen to my rear fog lights, one at a time and sometimes both but it was only on hot days.

My wife drove home and and on this day it was hot, the car had been standing for 9 days whilst she was on holidays.

Strange thing is everything works in the other harness on RHS so indicates loom, control unit or a plug.

Don't know where to start really start looking as car is still under warranty and do not want to void warranty.

Interesting thing I noted when testing a few things that negative pin on indicator globe holder has 11 volts and flashes on and off as you would expect.I would have thought the center pin would have the 12 volts?

The rear tailgate I have not looked into yet but at the moment $55000 car is not roadworthy and 100km from nearest dealer.

I will be ring dealer again and then skoda assist to get the car fixed before Christmas holidays

An update

For those interested Skoda assist came to the rescue and where fantastic with the problem and solving it. As the vehicle was not technically roadworthy it was put on tilt tray and taken to dealer some 200km away. VW dealer was not authorized to repair warranty work so it went a further 100km up the road.

The outcome was a earthing problem in the back quarter panel LHS, loose stud with earths from various equipment.

Car back on the road and a wash and vac with it.

happy camper at the end of the day with the dealer very professional to deal with

Result sir as they say.
