White wheels - lacquer peel?

Featured Replies

Hi folks, wondering if any other VRS owners have had issues with poor lacquer finish on the white gigaro wheels?

I spotted a couple of patches a short while after picking up the car, a 9 month old ex-demo. Took it back in and the dealers agreed to replace under warranty as they have no sign of damage. My fault really, but I cleaned the car for the first time today and two of the other wheels show signs of the same missing lacquer patches. I'm a bit embarrassed to go.back to them again and claim for two more now the first claim is all under way.

Is this a common issue, so the replacements will also go the same way after a few months?! If so I won't bother claiming the others unless they get really bad.

Mostly its only the Dark Chrome ones but others have a dodgy batch of laquer and will 'peel' a bit. Warranty should not be a problem.

If one's already gone, then the other 3 wheels should be from the same batch (i.e. painted at the same time).

I have the white Gigaro wheels on the VRS S2000. No issues so far other than kerbing which has been touched up. Mines a march 2011. I dont use any chemical cleaners on the wheels though as i felt they were a bit abrasive. Just a weekly wash for mine and wheel polish.

ive had two of my white wheels replaced under warrenty as they where going slightly yellow round the middle of the wheels.

I've reported the other two now. They would only start to bubble or yellow if I leave it.

If you have not had the wheels off yourself,

maybe best to get the Hub Centres done with a bit of Copper Grease.

Where about on the Wheel is the lacquer coming off, is it near the Centre?

Normally centre cap edges on spoke edge buddy. They call it white worm - similar to what happens on the badges

Mine are either on the spoke faces or between spokes, centres are fine.
