Small run about

Featured Replies

So as some may know I'm not impressed with my fiat 500 twinair. In the summer it was averaging at best 41.6mpg and now in the winter its down to 34 at best.

A far way off the 50+ :-[

So new year I'm looking to change to something new.

Citigo was on my list but I'm also tempted to get an auto. The ASG box has had some bad reviews so I'm thinking DSG.

What suggests are there for a good city car (no bigger than fabia) thats good on fuel/tax and a bit cool to drive about in.

Forgot to add its not just the low mpg but its already been in the garage 3 times for warrenty jobs and itsstill not right

Good deals on Corsa's at the minute.0% and low payments gets you a 1.2 sporty looking motor.

Or my choice would be a polo 1.2 R Line.(105 bhp)

Don't know about costs but it looks a cracking little car.

Have to say I'm not really a fan of super minis, a bloke at work has an Aygo and it's bloody awful tbh.

But another person at work has a Citigo in White with black wheels and also after seeing techies (rosses) also I think they are pretty good for the money some nice little quirky touches. Just my 2p but I may a bit biased already being a Skoda owner lol.

New Vauxhall Adam looks good?

VAG?

DSG?

No bigger than a Fabia?

Sporty looking?

Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo!

I didn't think the Monte Carlo came with DSG?

Anyway, having a Citigo as a 2nd car I'd certainly recommend one.

The manual is so easy to drive and the clutch is so light I don't think you need to go for the auto option really.

3000 miles on the clock in three months, 70% of that is on the open road near national speed limit and overall MPG is 57.

It was supposed to be for work mettings and zipping around town, but it's such good fun to drive I find I'm using it more than I planned.

By comparison the Fabia is not as much fun to drive.

But then being 200+ kg heavier and based on an old chassis from the mkI that was designed quite a while back that's understandable.

I still rate the Fabia as a great value small car, but the Citigo has really surprised me.

I've even put winter tyres on it so I can go out and have some fun if we get snow. :)

I think you need to get the right coolours though.

Or there is always the Up! GT due out sometime... wish they'd do a Skoda version as a vRS.

With a turbo diesel engine and a six speed box? :giggle:

You could always drop in a 1.8t if you get bored

Seriously though, avoid corsa (s) the engines are too weedy for their attempt at German engineering.

Yup Corsas are heavy with asthmatic engines.

Have you considered one of the hybrids that are around? In town it actually makes a difference.

Test drove a corsa and hated it! Under powered was the 1.2

Citigo is at the moment price wise the favourite. I did look at the audi A1 before having a small heart attack at the prices (though the vw polo is not that much cheaper)

By choice I too do not like smaller cars, but parking in the yard is an issue so small is king.

It goes look nice is white with black alloys and the "sporty go faster stickers"

Like the look at the monte, but no DSG. Plus I've had a fabia so maybe something different

What sort of driving style do you have?

My experience of cars like this is that driven gently the mpg can be excellent but as soon as you attempt to make any type of progress it goes through the floor.

Toyota iQ?

Jazz Hybrid?

I know they're old peoples cars but they are pretty good in town.

Dacia have a really cheap city car do they not?

Is cost the main factor?

What about a suzuki swift?

Kia rio. 7 year warranty.

I think opting for an auto in this class of cars will serioulsy limit your options.

Fabia/polo/golf SDI
