So Annoyed at Apple !

Featured Replies

Has anyone any good constructive advice for my iPad2 problem

I downloaded a "free" game app called "Madagascar3 - Join the Circus"

It's a world builder type game and my 2 kids love it, actually I do too

But it's really addictive and I've spent over £60 on in App purchases ( Bananas ) to build the game

So on 1st of December this App crashes and won't load properly

Spoke to Apple Tech support and did all the Usual stuff e.g. uninstall the app and load again - restore the iPad from it's back up on iTunes

But Nothing apparently all the game data is stored on the Developers Servers

Then Apple pass me from Developer to App Programmer all are very sorry but say tough luck basically we'll look into it !

So I ask iTunes for a Refund of these in app purchases - I'm not looking for cash only the £60 to be re-credited to my itunes account

But get this, and I Quote :-

"We can't give you a refund, as the app WAS working when you made those "in App Purchases"

What the hell

Any help will be appreciated - Please Don't say the obvious and tell me " Should have bought Google tablet "

Thanks

Looking at the reviews in the app store there are bugs with it at present so i'd expect these to be addressed.

As for refunding you apple aren't the one who made the game its made by some programmers they are the ones you need to be talking to, the game was working the developer appears to have done something in an update thats broken it, i'm assuming you spent that £60 over quite some time so you have had a lot of playing out of it, best avenue is to badger the developer into fixing it.

Blaming apple for this app not working is akin to blaming Microsoft when a game on your pc isn't working that they didn't write, all apple are doing is acting as a payment gateway to the developer.

This is probably something that you have already tried, but, have you tried re-syncing your apps with iTunes? Sometimes when I click on apps they just will not open but once re-synced etc they seem to work fine.... Just a thought.

I agree with Waplord overall though, Apple are not at fault or to blame for the developers game.

Good luck!

No its not ! when I buy Symantec or Nero for my PC then I pay my money to Symantec and Nero !

I understand this but my money goes to Apple ( ok Apple share it out to devlopers etc.) but I entered a contract with Apple - Paid my money to Apple

I'm not BLAMING APPLE and to be honest Tech support are great

but you wolud of thought they would be a bit more helpful in resolving the issue instead of just telling me to contact the developer

OR do something about my money down the toilet

No you don't as neither of those firms actually deal with consumer payments directly and you either buy the app online through a store operated on their behalf or via a retailer such as pcworld etc. Much in the same way that apple are merely the store in this case.

Question is what do you think Apple can reasonably do? You made the in app purchases before the app broke, they have as you said done what they can with their support teams for the devices and the bits they look after and they have pointed you in the direction of the developer of this app.

Why should Apple be out of pocket for this app, they have passed the money onto the game makers. If you read the terms and conditions for itunes and app purchases you'll find they are in the right here about not taking any responsibility for issues like this and you've agreed to those terms.

Well actually all my complaining and persistance has paid off

The Developer pulled his finger out and the app is fixed

I'm sure it could have been done sooner

You live and learn = no more big spending on any apps for me

LOL.

Good ending. I didnt want to say so before but seeing as you got it sorted i will now......£60 on flipping bananas?????????????

Seems casual gaming has overtaken hardcore gaming in terms of exploting the fans and milking them for more money. I thought paying £10-20 for downloadable content on my xbox was bad but bananas on an ipad. LMAO.

Actually i just bought a "tablet" for the missus for xmas and i secretly hoping she isnt that interested in it as i wnant it myself. Not and "apple" product as they are far too expensive although i wish it was one as they are superb. Looks like i will need to set up a payment restriction password or something as she does like playing game son her iphone.

£60 for bananas......i still cant get my head round that.

Apple customer service is possibly the best in the business. It's hard to do better than what they do.

Exactly ^^

Unlike google thee most incompetent A holes ever

LOL.

As if it was me  look at my age peeps - and I'm on my 3rd Octavia VRS - I don't throw money away

I work away quite a bit

and just this once I forgot to "turn off" the in app purchases on my ipad and 7yr old son was buying them

I didn't get the receipt from apple until it was too late :wall:

Happy ending - lesson learnt

One HUGE difference between the apps from the Apple Store and all of the stuff that you can chuck on a Windows machine is that Apple approve everything that's in the app store.
