Rear light possible MOT failure?

Featured Replies

Guys and gals,

I've got dectane LED rear lights and there is a slight problem on the driver side indicator. Part of the LED strip cuts off (see video below). Does anyone know if it will fail the MOT?

Thanks

Depends on how fussy the tester is, in theory it should pass since its still flashing amber and a substantial number of LED's are still working.

What it does show though it that LED lighting is not that reliable, and a right pain in the backside with a cluster like this as you'll have to replace the whole cluster to sort it.

Indeed Mannyo, the unit has a two year warrenty but it will have to be sent off to replace.

Its something to be sorted later but the MOT is this Friday.

Its intermittent though so maybe it might be fine during the test.

Thanks Mannyo, its what I was thinking lets hope its a nice tester

If the mot uses the same rules as for the high level break light then as long as 50% of the LEDs work then it should pass.

Cheers for that, fingers crossed it will do. I just dont fancy swapping them over in the dark cold weather.

Mine passed today, but my LEDs are all working

Sadly it failed due to owner memory! I'd forgotten to take off the "show plates".

Skoda dealership has been really good and will knock some plates up to get it through the mot. Hopefully by tonight really for collection tomorrow.

So the LED light issue was fine as it "worked" why tested

lol gutted after all the worry over lights I bet you did laugh a little at plates being why it failed heheh. Lights looks spot on (when all working) btw

Indeed Fubar, it was a homer moment and head smack!

Allams have been great so top marks to them, been re mot'd and passed but as the dealership is an hour away I'll collect tomorrow.

They do look rather nice
