I'm the same.No food,no parking out at night,no mud on shoes and supermarket car parks are an absolute nightmare.

Anything goes with this thing! I was once like you when I had the Octavia but now I don't care :)

I do still take 2 spaces up tho but that's due to its size haha.

When i had the old IHI power'd octavia the paint work was terrible imo but i loved it, was the fact it didnt care where i parked it, do a back lane sprint or putting it in the gravel trap at a track day.

Paint work should be ropey imo lol

The yellow vrs i have now, is far to clean for me, its that clean im thinking of selling it because its to clean for me!!

Nah land rovers are terrible. British rubbish, even the alluminium rusts on them. Had one for a bit and switched to a t - landcruiser 6 cylinder diesel, same mpg tons of power, imported and rust free, more equipment too. But principly the same if it werent muddy it wasnt right

Terrible? Not the best road cars I agree (the 2" lift doesnt help) but I've had more fun in this in 3 weeks than I did in 4 years of owning the vrs. It's as well spec'd as the vrs (apart from climate control) and its no slouch (tweaked pump) :)

It's all about the fun factor, I don't care where I park it, how many scratches its got and nobody messes with you :)

There's more to life than lifestylin and worrying about a piece of metal and what other people think of it.

this was my surf that i had before the cruiser, and yes terrible was harsh i suppose, but whenever we went to drumclog (a privately owned site) i was wasting my entire day rescuing disco's, they sure aint good in the mud unless heavily modified. The series 1 was unstoppable though

That is pretty cool :)

But I still disagree lol

9 out of 10 trucks that use our site are discos.

Mines been stuck twice but that was down to me being daft and trying to go where nobody else would lol, then realising that 3' deep mud was the reason. :)

Spent most of our time pulling sj's and defenders out.

Ooooo i wana go :)

But i think the octy would be stuck before it even gets dirty :D

I suppose the main reason being that at drumclog most of the disco drivers were idiots and in an attempt to show they knew the best route, ended in my kinetic rope getting hammered all day. So i suppose if you put a proper driver at the wheel its more likely to make it.

I spent alot of time offroad and learned how to drive the hard way and got stuck alot, funny you should say suzuki sj, as there was a guy at drumclog all the time in a standard sj with m+s tyres on, he never got stuck - but he was fast and knew which route to take - hit most things with the speed and revs up and you sale through (within reason)

Miss those days, but by the time i regeared my diffs to accomodate big wheels and fitting lockers i was down soooooo much money, much worse than modding a skoda ha

Lloyd you need to come up on a road trip and come out with us ;)

@lofty I know what you mean about spending lol, this was brought cheap and won't be getting ££££'s spent on it (for now lol) it was brought to offroad & green lane and to abuse.

I won't be going crazy with mods but if it breaks I'll uprate haha

A mates just brought an sj sayin it'd out do the disco and get everywhere!..... It didn't and the disco got everywhere that couldn't lol. I suppose its like you say "down to the driver"

A quote from the ScottishVAG forum

About a month ago I bought my first roadworthy car, (I have a mk1 cortina too), and it had to be something with a little uniqueness and style!

So I bought a breadvan icon_razz.gif

It's great fun to drive, and in particular, because it's only covered 8000 miles.

would have probably been cheaper to drive it up here, and got me to look it over, ive access to a ramp too.

we ALL - no exceptions - have done jobs to rectify something that didnt need doing, its a very normal thing, no failing on your part, its part of life and learning.

I once replaced 2 drive shafts to solve a thumping on acceleration, didnt solve it so garaged it, they said it was gearbox so paid to have it changed, as it only ever thumped when on the gas. Turned out it was a buckled front wheel.
